  1. Having just visited a garage that specialises in corrados and golfs.... I got one hell of a shock.

One guy had taken his car there and spent 35k on it over a year. 6 grand on a respray , 6 grand on getting the engine as per original.

I was told that the timeing chain should really be changed at 100k mark....i asked how much that costs....and the answer was a grand....

my god what have i got myself into.... eeek

  2. So what would i need for a VR6 , i dont get all this relay talk ... mr incompetant here. Would i be able to fit them easily ?

It would be great if i could just plug and go type fitment.

Would i need new bulbs ? and i read some talk of them melting the headlight surround , or did i miss read it ?

    Cheers

  3. the last thing i want to do is ruin mine.....

I just want to make it look smart and have a bit of extra performance if i need it..

Now when people say they have a bda air filter ... is that just an air filter or an induction kit ?

cheers for all the replies , much appreciated.

  4. well i decided to paint it. I put some paint on it after a bit of sanding and it turns out it was originally red but the muppet who had it before me sprayed it sliver....why i have no idea..

So i'm touching it up with red and black enamel paint and some glossy laquer.

  5. Hi again all.

I did think that my grill badge was a silver VR6 one . But taking a closer look theres a few specs of red on it which means its just worn off or the previous owner fancied a silver badge.

I've looked for a red on on ebay and other places with no luck.

Is it easier to buy a few cans of paint and primer and spray it or does anyone know anywhere i can pick one up relatively cheaply.

    Cheers

  6. hi there!

you've got the first ones there for sure.

clear side repeaters are by far the best pound for pound upgrade IMO, followed closely by giving it a proper clean inside and out! (thats not a comment based on the photo by the way - i cant see it at work anyway) :)

replacing/refreshing any other tired/cracked lights also make a big difference, same goes for tired rubber seals/trim on the exterior. bmc-cda air filter is the best thought of option if you go that route.

    have fun!

I'll go for the clear ones , i'll keep the new amber ones as spare.

A clean inside isnt needed it spotless thankfully.

The bmc sounds good , but looks expensive .. about 150 quid for the induction kit... i'll have to look into it.
