  1. Any news on sorting the flat spot mate? Car looks fantastic by the way.
  2. Sold it provisionally, will be collected tomorrow...
  3. It's above the long line of fuses, in the middle and set back a bit. So I suppose you could say it's behind in a way... Let me know if you still can't find it and I'll take a picture
  4. Hi! could you please post a picture or a ms-paintbrush drawing ( ) of where the 'hidden fuse' is located? thanks! In the fust box by the steering column, look above the main bank of fuses pretty much in the middle and it'll be there, set back a bit. It's a bit difficult to see so you might just have to feel for it
  5. Silver K reg 16v (I think...) with aftermarket alloys, spotted on the M1 yesterday around 5pm ish, just before getting stuck in a huge traffic jam for an hour...
  6. Broke down and had to get the recovery people out. Alternator apparently... more fun.
  7. Didn't need to take the car out anywhere today so I went for a quick run around the block and still no stalling, but I was getting the hesitant throttle problem a little that I've had before so I'm still dubious... we shall see I suppose.
  8. Just keep your fingers crossed! I'd rather not get my hopes up, it's lulled me into a false sense of security many times like this before. Fools me every time!
  9. Drove it for a bit this morning and it was absolutely perfect... solid idle with no blipping, and not a hint of it trying to cut out :confused4: Though it has been perfect like this before only to be crap later so I'll not get my hopes up. Only thing I did yesterday is unplug and plug back in some connectors under the bonnet to check for corrosion, wouldn't have thought that would have done anything. As soon as it starts acting up again I'll try the water temperature thing
  10. Also I'm getting it looked at on Friday. Although not holding out much hope as the mechanic is stumped as to why a new ISV didn't solve the problem. Also the reason I need to get rid of it is the Mercedes which I've been trying to get working for months is finally almost finished, so the Corrado needs to go to make way for that. If anything to help me pay for the work that's been done on it...
  11. Norman, if you can list out what you have done, we maybe able to point you in the right direction... possibly a simple fix thing like an airleak? So far, had the throttle body cleaned out, ISV cleaned out and later replaced with a brand new one, checked the rubber bits connecting the throttle body and airbox for leaks, checked all the electrical connectors under the bonnet for corrosion, and checking spark plug gaps today. Only thing is if the ECU needs more time to adjust to the ISV? So far been 40 miles since I put it on. Oddly, for the first 30 miles which I did in one day, it was absolutely perfect. Next day it started being a pain again
  12. Thanks for the reply but I have already been down that road without success unfortunately, having the throttle body cleaned was the first thing I did :(
  13. WD40 thing didn't show up any results. Found this on the forum search: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/vwt ... ning3.html and looked at all the connectors as suggested but all are perfect and not at all corroded. Idle switch is clicking fine, haven't got a multimeter handy to check if its getting power though. Mechanic is also stumped and was certain a new ISV would have solved the problem. Is it possible that either the ECU needs more time to adjust to the new ISV (had 40 miles so far, first 30 miles it was perfect...) or that the 3rd party ISV I bought is a load of s**t despite being brand new? Really am getting sick of this car now.
  14. My 16v Corrado is exhibiting the common problem of occasionally not idling and cutting out when the clutch is dipped, and a lumpy idle in which the engine blips between 1000-1100 (this happens more often...). I've tried most of the possible fixes people have suggested which don't involve shelling out alot of money (other than fitting a new ISV which did cost a bit) and I've had enough. I need to be selling it now as it is to make way for my other car which is supposed to be fixed soon, so I'm wondering if it's just worth getting shot of it now and being honest about the problem, and cutting down the price to compensate. Is this worth it or will no one touch it with a barge pole? Also how much should I think about dropping the price by? It's a '92 2.0 16v with 92k on the clock in pretty good condition with an almost complete service history. Cheers Matt
  15. Couldn't see any obvious splits there but I'll try the wd40 trick to see what happens. I've got a video of the throttle blipping problem I sometimes get as opposed to the stalling, if that helps narrow it down at all: http://rapidshare.com/files/220766125/MOV00123.MP4.html
  16. Sorted now. Was indeed a fuse, but the fuse in question was well hidden above the relays
  17. For some reason the electric windows and the central locking in my rado have stopped working at the same time. Checked the manual and it doesn't mention if there's a fuse for the locking, and it says that the electric window fuse is in 'another compartment' but doesn't actually mention where these are. Is there anything like a relay or whatever else that would cause both of these to stop working at the same time? With this on top of my stalling problems despite a new ISV, I really am starting to get hacked off with my Corrado :mad2:
  18. Thought I'd finally be able to solve my idling and stalling problems by fitting a brand new ISV, and for 30 miles last night it seemed like it was sorted but this morning it's business as usual. By that I mean sometimes not idling and cutting out if I don't apply the throttle, and sometimes having the throttle blipping between 1000 and 1100. Should I allow more time for the ECU to adjust to the new ISV or assume that the problem lies elsewhere?
  19. Oil and filter change a couple of days ago, filter took hours to undo, used about 3 different tools and the old screwdriver and hammer method before it would actually come off :bad-words: And today I fitted a nice shiny new ISV, no stalling as of yet
  20. Sorry should have done a quick search first, was a bit short on time earlier so thought I'd just try a quick post. A lot of people posted about cleaning out the 'Idle Stabilisation valve' as a solution, am I to assume that this is just another name for the Idle control valve? As mentioned I had that cleaned out and that did for a time stop the problem, and now its come back it's not quite as bad. Would it be a fair assumption that as it improved but didn't completely solve the problem, that it would be worth having a new idle control valve put in?
  21. Had a really irritating problem with my Corrado since I bought it, quite frequently when you dip the clutch while pulling up at a junction the car won't idle, the revs just drop right down until it stalls unless you use the throttle to stop the engine speed going under 700 or so rpm. Also had a jerky throttle which was particularly irritating. I had the idle control valve cleaned out which sorted the problem for a couple of weeks, though now the problem has come back. Not as bad, but still stupidly irritating. Any suggestions on how to kill this problem? It's a 2.0 16v. Cheers Matt
  22. I was going to get a new grille almost straight away as I really don't like the colour coded one but didn't quite get around to it. Will sort that soon along with the scuff so should look good :D As much as I like to keep my cars standard, I do agree that it sits a bit high so I'd like to lower it and maybe change the estorils for BBS, but I'll probably be selling relatively soon to make way for the merc
  23. Bought this Corrado last October as a bit of a stop gap while I tried to get my Mercedes 190 back on the road, but it's ended up being my daily driver a fair bit longer. Wheels are horribly corroded in these pics but I'm in the process of doing a bit of a DIY refurb on them at the minute
