  3. weird issue with the breakes, or at least just the left hand side. the discs and pads were new in June, the ABS works fine, the fualt light comes on and clears as it should but I think there is something wrong somewhere. It seems as if my car is locking up on one side, yes should not do it with abs but there is juddering in the pedal and clicking so ABS is working. This happens intermittently and has happend at really slow speeds of 10 mph.

I have heard a loud groan from the left hand side of the car afterwarsds when slowing the car but this doesn't always happen either. It seems to do this once per trip and then its fine, I have had new fluid in the system and has been flushed a few times due to clutch problems.

anyone have any idea or heard of this thing before?

It doesn't seem to be losing fluid, the ABS is working, the brakes don't feel spongey, it just seems to lock up on the left front wheel sometimes, wet and dry conditions.

  4. Hi I had a noise coming from my VR6 when I statrted it up and when cold I was advised that it was the top bearing for the serpentine belt so I changed the bearing this weekend, however the noise I have to admit has quietened down and is less streesed however I can still hear a noise I think it is the bearing or pulley for the water pump as when we spun that one when changing the belt over it was noise and sounded wobbly?

anybody had this or heard of this or basicly know about changing it? help.

  5. I have had the clicking.

You havent fitted some new wheels or bolts per chance?

I had two bolts that were slightly longer than the others and these were clipping the ABS sensor. Maybe this has broken the sensor and has something to do with your brake juddering problem also. :confused4:

Not sure about the dash bit.. Always worth checking underneath your door cards though to make sure they are sealed nice and tight.

    Matt

hmm would make sense, I have the original wheels on but the bolts could possibly be different, I managed to fix the brake problem, the fuse had gone (no16), however I am ever dubious as to why it blew.

  6. hi, the new problems I face are a weird stone like clicking noise coming I believ from the front drivers wheel.

I thought it was a stonein the tyre at first but it has been like this for around 2 months now, NO STONE ANYWHERE. it is literally what it sounds like. any ideas I did read about a clicking coming from the inner CV joint, could be that but not sure how louder clicking we are talking, ive heard what CV joints have sounded like when they are knackered before and it doesnt sound the same.

    2. the little dash pocket on the passenger side under the glover box is completely soaked through.. anybody else had the same problem?

  7. yeah, the light should stay on if there is an ABS fault. Does your ABS work now? If not it could be the bulb in the warning light.

Well have fixed the bulb problem, the fuse No. 16 had blown so I have replaced that and the lightis back, it is going off so ABs would appear fault free. As far as I can tell the ABS is working fine, so the fuse must have blown, put the ABS out so it didnt know what it was doing, hence the juddering of it trying to work. hopefully all is good. however I think the spoiler must have made the fuse blow, it works when it wants to and hasnt for a bout a month now - probably needs taking apart and cleaning again and lubing up properly, or the motor could have actually gone this time.

Either way, ABS to be working, havent had to break tremendously hard though since yesterday. Will try it out on way home.

  8. I had the same problem, it only lasted about a week before the ABS light came on permanently and the juddering stopped. New rear sensor solved it all and I haven't had the problem since. :)

yeh would appear to have lasted a week also but ABS light if actually off, wont come on at all now! surely the light should come on and stay on.

  9. could cost upto £80 seen em new on the bay for £30 and easy to change

try spraying the bearing with wd40 for a temp fix !! :norty:

ok well i shall see what happens, can only break, as i got told a when i bought the car, its a corrado it will need fixing every week.

before i spray it, where is it???

  10. warped disks?

do you have a local Kwik-fit type place that'll do a free brake check?

I wouldnt have thought so, the discs were new in Jan, along with the brakes, rear calipers are new but the front ones arent.

the car pulls to the left a lot, so i think the tracking is out, however i did have a suggestion of a bush or something being worn.

  11. Hi all, I've got a bit of a strange ABS problem and an imminent MoT coming up. Hopefully someone can help. I've done a few searches but can't find any similar problems.

The pump appears to be periodically repressurising itself or something and over the course of a couple of days quickly escalated into doing it several times a minute. I can hear a whirr noise when it happens, and can feel it in the clutch and brake if I happen to be using either at the time. It only seemed to do it when the car was moving, but I didn't sit for ages at rest to check.

The ABS light doesn't come on (I know the light works as the self-test is fine on startup). I have no fault code on VAG-COM.

I was worried that I was going to burn out the ABS unit or something, so I forced a fault by unplugging one of the front sensors. Since doing that, it fails the startup test, as expected, and disables the ABS and I've not had the whirring noise since. Curiously, I was unable to disable the ABS by removing the fuse marked as "ABS" on the fusebox. So, forcing a deliberate fault was my solution.

The only thing I can think is that I maybe have air in the master cylinder/ABS unit or possibly even the clutch. A year or so back I replaced all my brake lines from the ABS unit to each caliper, and I didn't bleed the ABS unit or master cylinder at the time, because I wasn't sure how to do it then. I was never really satisfied with the brakes after this, as I felt they were a bit spongy, but it has passed two MoTs since then. I did minimise fluid loss from the ABS when replacing these lines, by using a plug I made from a union with a proper copper pipe with flare with the pipe hammered down flat. This prevented excessive fluid loss, but clearly some air probably got in. I guessed at the time that it would be forced out of the line anyway, but maybe it's stuck around in the ABS unit.

Could this whirring be the ABS unit reacting to air, and trying to maintain the pressure? I see no evidence of fluid loss as the reservoir is still full.

Again, no ABS light, no VAG-COM code, and the ABS seemed to operate correctly (before I deliberately disabled it), but just has this constant 'repressurising' feeling and whirring noise.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Edit: Actually, I wonder if I should have VAG-COMed it before I disabled the ABS. I'm not sure if the self-test clears other codes out. Should I reconnect the front sensor I deliberately removed, and re-scan for faults as these whirrs are occuring?

Hi, where abouts can you hear the whirring from? i have a whirr in mine and the brakes are playing up, just wondered if same problem or completely unrelated whirr, not to sure where the abs pump is?

  12. also.. to my many queries.

have noticed that when the car is cold there is an incredibly annoying whirr which increases in pitch with the revs. I dont think it can be heard outside, can hear it really well in the car.

sounds a bit like the high pitch of when a washing machine is going, really weird. I dont think it happens when the car has been driven for a while, anybody know what this is?

i have read on here about a whirr coming from the aux pump, i changed mine recently cos it sounded terrible, was really loud and then changed to a still second hand one. I dnt think its related to the water pump though.

  13. That's the ABS kicking in :) without it you'd get lots of screeching instead of juddering and a few more dead pheasants each year! You're one of the luck C owners to have working ABS!

hmm im not so sure as it doesnt do that juddering every time the brakes are used and they feel better after that initial judder. it doesnt feel right to be honest.

  14. Hi newly developed problem, only does it once though.

Car drives fine until you have to brake hard and then you can feel extreme juddering in the brake pedal and the brakes feel crap - this only happens on the first hard brake of a trip.

afterwards it feels fine. any ideas cos it doesnt feel good!

  15. Yeh I dnt really want to convert to 4 studs however it was just a case of having the wheels already sat there.always going to be better for the car if i keep to 5 studs, maybe get deeper dishes.hmmm.more money tho.

  16. but I have them in four stud as mint and that would mean selling them at a loss only to buy them again for even more notes.

could be the only option though.

just being tight really i spose.

Unless that is the general consensus, just get 5 studs??

  17. Hi, had a good clean up of the spoiler and it will lower and raise with me winding it manually, it wont work on the switch and it seem that some days the spoiler works, some days it doesnt. it seems to work if I creep up to around 61mph but only very slowly, cnat take it by surprise.

    any ideas?

  18. Is this a bad idea?

would it work to put a pdc adaptor to change the stud pattern from a 5 stud on the vr6 to a four stud pattern to allow for some borbet A's to be fitted, or is the likelyhood being that they will stick out of the arches loads due to the et already?

  19. Yep, all of the above. Just thought I would write to say that my vr6 was suffering whenever i put my foot down and pushed it, it would hold back and splutter, initially I thought it was the cam sensor, then I thought coilpack, so I changed the coilpack as my mate had a spare of an old engine.wasnt that. didnt really want to change cam sensor, had two diagnostics done. they showed nothing.then I took it back to the garage again as they had only tested my car up back roads and so i made them take it up the A11 to actually push it as I had said for them to do , then he noticed the problem that I said it was having, as before I think he thought I was chasing the dragon or something as it would never play up for him, he put it on the diagnostic again and this time it showed up with an intermittent cam sensor fault. he pulled the little white plug for the cam sensor apart and this was full of water!!

water taken out, problem solved, car is now running as it should. Just thought it would be a point for a few people on here to check as some seem to be having the same symptoms.
