  1. well I gave all the sensors a good clean over the weekend, checked plugs sockets connectors all seem ok. however the light is still on! :( . could be be the problem is still solved but the faults just need clearing? or should the light go off if i have resolved the problem? its booked in the a check tommrow hopfully its just a fault thats stuck?

  2. Quel Surprise!!! I hate it when people do things like that :censored:

Mind you, I patched up a massive crack in a wall with polyfilla to sell a house once

You need to get it on VAG-COM diagnostics to fault code the ABS ECU.

The 3 most common ABS faults I've seen on the VR6 are:-

    Wheel speed sensor faults

Pedal position sensor fault - You'll feel the ABS kicking in at slow speeds and randomly, even with very light pedal pressure.

Differential lock valve (the crappy pseudo 'Traction control' system) fault - Snow and ice drives it crazy.

And if you get this, you may need a new ABS pump (well over £1000 new):-

ABS pump outlet valve faults (1 - 4)

Have a scoot around the car and make sure all 4 ABS sensors are plugged in and the connectors are secure etc. Although all the connectors have gold plated pins, double check for corrosion in case the orange rubber connector seals are missing.

Make sure the ends of the ABS sensors don't have any metallic debris on them as that can mess up the signal to the ECU.

The fronts have a connection on the turret towers next to the top mounts.

The rears have the same connections, but they're under the rear seats.

Check also the ABS ECU plug hasn't got corroded. It's behind the kick panel in the passenger front footwell under the shelf.

If everything looks OK physically, get it on the diagnostics, reset the fault codes. Any persistent faults will come back on the fault code screen immediately.

all there i think mate :)

  3. excellent mate! very good info there :) gives me a nice list of things to check, im hoping its just a connector of some sort, odd that its been unplugged though, which is what makes me think its something worse. arwell il find out tomorrow :)

    cheers for the help! :)

  4. ok, took the light out to discover it was not plugged in. after plugging it in it is now on constantly, would this be a fault code that needs removing? or mabye a sensor not plugged in correctly or a loose conection?

    any ideas welcome!

  5. excellent mate cheers! bulb was my first place to look, thought it might be an LED though but il check that first and work back from there i suppose! :) any other things to check/look for would be great!

  6. Hello, I have a K reg corrado vr6, it failed its MOT today as the ABS light was not working, any ideas on what this could be, i have not had a chance to check yet as its dark, but any common problems that are know would be great for me to check!

    any ideas would be great

    Cheers

  7. yehh it seems good, just if your going to change the rods, I dont see why you wouldent lower compression through the pistons rarther then a spacer gasket? i think the pistons are cheaper then the rods! supose it depends what nik there in. good value for money though for what it is!

  8. thanks ! :)

well i spoke to them yesterday, it was abit brief, the stage 1 kit consists of, rods, spacer gasket, turbo, custom intercooler (if they do one there not sure yet) to fit nicley behind the bumper t3/t4 turbo ( i think) and your other bits n' bobs, i think he said everything fitted and mapped for 3200? there trying to do the cheapest kit. they quote 320ish bhp on the stage 1 kit! :):), however I plan to just buy it fit it and take it back for a map. but it does sound promising.

  9. Hello,

Well I finally got round to getting myself a corrado vr6

Since i'v had it iv done a few bits n' bobs and well here it is...

Started of with the usual, plugs leads, oil, filter etc and found it ran a lot nicer! then took the throttle body of gave it a good clean and re-fited it with a new gasket.

Then the coilovers arived so i Put them and lowered much as i could with juuusssstttttt enough room for my sump :S , got my self some cheapo 15" rims temporeroly while I get my hands on a set im after. Then took it to the body shop to get all little dings etc sorted and smoked the rearlights and tidied things up.

    here's a couple of photos...

The weekend just gone I managed to get a few bits done again

took my headlights out and took the lenses of, painted the inside of them black leaving only the reflective parts needed...

I then decided to polish my intake manifold. The previous owner had painted it black with out really preparing the manifold, so I had to take the paint of, then get rid of the pitting, and then begin polishing

here's a photo of when Iwas de-pitting it..

once this was done and i had polished and buffed it to a mirror finish I then masked it off ready to paint in-between the branches etc...

    pa1nt.jpg

once it was all ready i re fitted it with new gaskets ans fitted a new cone filter for good measure! :)

Next on the lists is to get myself some new wheels and go forced induction, iv decided to go down the turbo route but a stage one kit for now, nothing to crazy as its my daily but just to make it abit more fun! so updates when that starts. but that's about it!

    comments welcome

  10. Hi,

I got a Vr6 a few days ago just trying to sort out all its little problems, when running there is a bit of a rough noise coming from the top right (just at the back) i think its some sort of circulation pump? as I'm not sure what it is I'm not to sure what to do to get it sorted, any information on this would be helpful and i can get a picture up of it if no one really knows what I'm talking about

    thanks in advance
