Cheers folks, 135,000 miles sounds a lot of miles to me but i dont know how many issues youd have with a high mileage rado?

Hi folks, I currently drive a 1995 mx5,its fantastic to drive but im moving to manchester after christmas and will be doing 100 motorway miles a week. My mx5 is half way to a track day car and is dangerous on the motorway, too low, crashy and very loud at motorway speeds. So im after a second car to do the motorway miles and drive around manchester in the day, leaving the mazda as a weekend toy. I was after a rado a while back then sort of forgot about getting one when work wasnt going as well as it could be.Since ive been looking at something new the idea of a corrado has come back. I have £2500 to spend and im guessing if i wanted a vr6 its going to be mega miles with that budget? Other cars ive looked at include clio 172s and mitsubishi ftos. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

http://pistonheads.com/sales/1259716.htm This g60 was on pistonheads about a month ago and sold, then came back up for sale by the original seller a few days later,i emailed and asked for extra pictures which i got but within a couple of hours got another email to say sorry but the car has sold, now its back up for sale by someone who it seems cant afford the insurance(maybe check the prices before buying the car ey?!?!) but its up for atleast a grand more than it was advertised originally for,i think it was £3500 originally. Just thought someone might like to know some recent history before looking at buying it.

Not yet,my mx5 is still up for sale and i need the money from that first. As soon as that goes ill be off to look at this! Im hoping its quick enough for my liking, never driven a rado!

Cheers chaps,190bhp should do for now!How much is head work and making it breath easier(i assume id be looking at a new intercooler and that sort of thing?)going to set me back?I like the sound of being quicker than a standard vr6! And if it sounds like a washing machine on full cycle atleast the missus will like it,i joke i joke.

Actually re-reading the advertisement its a stage 2 charger with a chip and pulley from jabba sport? How far off the performance of a vr6 are we talking there? Loving reading around the forums so far by the way, lots of interesting finds!

Ive just emailed a seller about a car and have been informed it has a stage 4 charger thats 4 pot which makes it stronger and more powerful? Ive seen a fair few g60s with this upgrade and im just wondering how much of an upgrade it really is?What sort of 0-60 should i expect? Mainly so i have bragging rights over a mate whos just ordered the new fiat 500 abarth essesse! Cheers folks.

Ok,apparently the clutch was inspected when the other work was done but the mechanic said it didnt need replacing,he has all the reciepts and the only bad points on the car are a small patch of rust on one arch(i have pictures its about 50p size and i think would clean up until i can afford a re-spray and the rear disks and pads will need replacing soon, how much should i be budgeting for that?
-
Thanks alot folks, ive asked a couple more questions, mainly about the clutch etc and reciepts,so if they turn up then all looks good, its a toss up between 2 now!The other being the met brown bronze g60 for sale on here.

As soon as i get my first rado(hopefully next couple of weeks) ill have one of these off you, will you still have them available? -
The worry was that all the work was done 3k miles ago,i guess i should be looking at it as a plus really! Its not the distance more the fact id have to take a day off work to go and look at it thats the problem,im working everyweek day and studying at the weekend at the moment. Im going to give the owner a call tomorrow and hopefully ill get to have a look at it sometime next week.Budget in a leather retrim and ill be a happy chappy!

Cheers chaps, list of work done on the advert says: New Head Gasket, head skimmed, Sump Gasket and Engine Mount New Chain, chain slippers and Tensioner New Radiator, Water Pump, Temperature Sender and Thermostat Housing New Fuel Pump and HT Lead Set Is there anything i should ask?Its a long way from me so id like to get all the info i can before i travel to see it.

Hi Folks, Ive been looking at an advert for a corrado and the only thing putting me off was a lot of engine work done in the last few thousand miles. I emailed the seller asking what the problem was and got this as a reply: Luke, basically had a leak in the top of rad that was too big to repair, when it was in for the work, discovered slighly down on compression in one of the cyl, which led to the head gasket slight leak. whilst head was off, the slippers/guides for the chain seemed quite worn and they are usually worse at the bottom, so decided to drop gearbox and replace all guides/tensioners and the chain as well. on rebuild changed the water pump as a matter of course and the thermo housing, few weeks later the fuel pump was groaning so that was done along with the ht leads that were arcing, discs and pads were worn. it was just a mad few months were i took a big hit :-(,,, all sorted now tho. I have no reasons to doubt the chap but my mechanical knowledge is limited so im just wondering if this sounds about right and what work is likely to be needed soon. The car is a vr6 with 110k on the clock. Cheers folks, looking for a rado is getting stressfull!
