I recentley drove a 20v turbo and I must say the turbo lag was an absolute joke, in my opinion it didnt feel that quick because of it...the low end is slower than slow,the handling wasnt as good as a corrado (in my opinion) I quite like the looks and the interior though, although they are not as nice quality as a rado

uummm, my parents have a 1993 SL500,dont think they have had one problem with it,had it about 5 years now. Id check the roof works perfectley,hard top is a must aswell,if that doesnt dont bother,big bucks. Decent S/H would be a must aswell, and make sure the auto box is as smooth as a nut,any shunting or knocking then walk. that mileage is the same as my parents one and is very low for an '88 registered car,it has probably been fannied about by an old dear so the auto box may not be in be in all that great condition. In the last 3 months I have taken on 2 part-exchanges that have been autos with low mileages and both the boxes went bust....grabted they werent merc SL's but Auto boxes like being used

I'd reject the car and angle at the getting the leon.... I sell cars myself so I know that these things do happen, i have let cars go with minor blemishes on paintwork but if a car was as bad as yours i would not let that go out. I am very suprised they didnt stall you for a week and sort out the paintwork....

After nearley 2 years of corrado ownership i waved a sad goodbye to my beloved car last night :cry: Young lad from Reading picked it up, first person that saw it. My autotrader advert gave me about 15 calls about the car and about 5 dodgy emails! Its been a good time with the car and im sure ill be back at some point, I will however remain an active member of the forum as a background lurker, The world of the company car awaits....... i knew the problem when i bought it, was v cheap though. In everyones opinion how long should this take a good mechanic?

because the fans have now been fixed the car can get upto to temp and correct pressure, because of this water now pisses out of the matrix. when the car did not get up to temp, there was never enough pressure for the water to come out of the matrix. I know what you guys are saying about doing it myself but by the looks of the how to guide i couldnt do it. all those wires would just make me freak out, also i havnt got any time to do it! so we reckon about 6 hours labour?

and the fans were always running because some idiot previous owner chopped into the fans wiring for some reason or another?

The mechanic said the matrix blew because the fans were always running, youve got it the wrong way round :wink:

id be doing it at the side of a busy road which doesnt help much.

I couldnt face it mate, I dont have the time, space or inclination to do it!

I am useless with mechanics, I havnt got one tool to my name!

i know the matrix is only cheap but its a good 5 hour job by the sounds of things, the car uses so much petrol because it doesnt ever run at temp. im gona bite the bullet knowing that im gona have a sweet running car for a while.....

First thing is to get the engine, suspension,mounts all top notch. no point spending bucks on an unhealthy car....

Right, ever since ive had my car the rad. fans have always been on. I finally took it to my garage for the sparky to look at it. Now the bad news, He says that because the fans were always on the car was not getting adequate pressure, as a result the matrix has blown. :cry: It seems that it is a long process to replace it, ive been quoted about 500 quid to get it sorted, but im friendley with the guy so its gonna be cash. Does 300-400ish quid sound about right to you guys?? that price is all in by the way. Cheers peeps.
