  3. nice job on the switches, was it difficult to do? Any advice would be appreciated as I plan on doing this. Where did you get your LED's etc Cheers Anthony

I also get about 29.9 at 70, Only goes above 30 (most I have seen is 33.2) when I drive like a granny at 60. Would the fuel filter really cause this much restriction? I am due an oil change so I will do this then also.
  8. just changed my mount, took half an hour if that! Totally different car now. Sounds like we had the same problem. Its like I have about 20 more BHp!
  9. Quick Update, Fitted my engine mount (Solid one from GSF) took half an hour its like driving a new car now! No more lurching off the line! To be fair the one I took off looks like the original (19 yrs old) and I could literally move the mount around with my hands - not quite right! Easy job to do, saves lots more wear in the long run. Sorry to go on a bit but I am currently basking in my own glow! Next job - Brakes and Alarm Anyone got any recommendations for alarm types and alarm fitters in the North West? Cheers
  10. I have some good condition headlights, what sort of a deal were you thinking?
  11. This sounds like mine, I have a new engine mount as when I looked the other week, I was tightening the alternator and there was a lot of play in the engine, Fingers Crossed!
  12. looks like a nice basis and should be a fun build.
  13. Shamone! It was me, I sort of waved back as I was a bit confused by the whole situation of smokey end to alternator down chancery road then turning round keeping revs on whilst spotting a corrado, A bit surreal for me! Of all the drives to turn round in!
  14. Mine also seems similar to this, so I will be interested in the answer. Your digital guage is oil (there should be a small oil can logo above the readout). Anthony
  15. No I'm not missing a hanger, the back box is solid onto the heat shield with all hangers. I think the angle coming from the suitcase silencer is the culprit, where it goes over the rear beam.
  16. Hi guys and gals, I have not really had much chance to post pictures, and the only pictures on my gallery are from autotrader. Since I have owned the car I have set about doing all the jobs so to achieve the car I want. I want a fairly OEM looking car, which is nice and tidy, and as it is my daily I like to look after it, preventative maintenance rather than reactive maintenance. Recently a few bits and bobs have started to appear. I think I will need to do the front suspension top mounts at some point this year. I have a front engine mount which will be fitted as soon as my hands warm up! So far I have fitted a new OEM exhaust system, but I am not happy with the alignment of the tailpipe so it will be off again for some bending and refitting. My alternator packed in last week is a grand fashion involving smoke! That has been fixed now by the garage as I am away with work a lot and couldnt get one on a saturday afternoon! Still the back pocket is lighter! Today as it was a bit cold to swap engine mounts I went about washing it. I tried a new method due to the cold weather which was essentially Wash the car, then rinse, then apply mer with a sponge, wash rinse and then chamois the car off. This has left a really nice shine which I am pleased with and should protect the paintwork a little. Some pictures: Future jobs include: Engine mount, Rear brakes, Front suspension top mounts, Tidy the interior maybe look at a retrim, Fit some better headlamps! Fix my front splitter which is cracked at one corner Sort the paintwork out particularly around the front bumper fog lamp area Remote keyless entry Stealth parcel shelf source and fit Golf Mk2 scuttle cover clean engine bay fit mk4 expansion tank fix passenger side mirror glass with heated element Tune up Looks like i'll be a busy boy especially with 2 mini restorations! Anthony
  17. Also on my 'to do' list this weekend! Alternator last weekend, getting busy!
  18. That is a nice looking vehicle you have there. i would have had that car if it was for sale a couple of weeks earlier! keep it polished so it doesnt become tornado pink!! Enjoy! I love mine so glad i went for a Rado now!
  19. hi all, i am in the process of sorting out all of the 'boring' bits on the C. It is a 1990 1.8 16V KR. I believe that my front engine mount is shot as when I pull away it is almost as if the engine 'bites' twice i.e. it starts moving and then there is a bit of an engine based jolt as the engine seemingly rotates backwards. i have two questions: - 1. Are there any tests I can do to check my mounts (I think I will do them anyway though) 2. How would i go about changing the front mount, is it an easy job to as to me it looks as though I can possibly loosen the mount, and then jack the engine slightly to remove the old one and replace. Unfortunately the manual I have only covers american vehicles such as VR6 and PG Many thanks Anthony
  20. have you checked that the glass is a heated element? my passenger side doesn't work but thats because it was replaced by a previous owner for a none heated mirror. also if you can get the mirror glass off, there are 2 contacts which seem to get quite badly corroded. With the demist switch off, the voltage across should read 0v, with swicth on around the 10-12v mark.
  21. happened to me on saturday, going to replace the cable I think anyway, but it thawed in an hour or so, not great but did sort itself out
  22. unfortunately my driver side works excellently - no corrosion! :)
  23. Well I worked out why the passenger mirror doesn't heat, it has been replaced by a non heated version, power supply is fine. In other words WANTED: Passenger side Heated mirror glass Any ideas?
  24. Seems like the passenger mirror has been changed at some stage so may be why it doesnt work Rear screen heater switch seems to trigger them
