It's a K reg VR6 with an after market Toad immobiliser. I know they have messed around with the ignition and that they have ruled out a problem with the fuel pump. Part of the problem is that they don't have the diagnostic kit for Corrados (sad I know but in other ways they've been an excellent gargage over the years). Thanks for the replies. Going to see how it goes and then either take it to Challenge or try a mobile auto electrician since I'm pretty much convinced it's a paranoid immobiliser.

Folks My normal garage has given up on trying to fix this problem! The problem is intermittent and is down to an absence of spark (I suspect the immobiliser but can't be sure as I have the technical skills of a household brick). One out of every ten starts the engine turns over but doesn't come to life. Eventually, if you keep trying for 5-40mins it will kick into life. The crank shaft sensor has already been replaced but this hasn't sorted the problem. Any ideas? I'm thinking it needs to go to a VW / Corrado specialist. Anyone able to recommend one in the Cheltenham area? Thanks in advance Jon

Folks .. I know we may have seen the end of the nice weather but I have a sunroof fault that I want to get sorted. Posting here to see if anyone has had anything similar happen before I start to replace components. Sometimes my sunroof works fine but other times it will open but then not close (I have to pop the interior panel and use the very German efficient allen key that clips next to the motor). Thinking it's either the motor sticking or the switch has failed to a degree. But does anyone have any similar experiences to share? Cheers Jon

Spotted a white Corrado (not sure which flavour) heading into Cheltenham on the Gloucester Road yesterday at 6:30pm while heading out in my Midnight Blue jobbie. He gave me a flash of the headlights and I was too slow for anything but a quick thumbsup. (Might have seen the same one before ages ago one morning on the same road .. think I managed to flash my headlights this time!)

After removing the instrument panel and having a rummage around, I thought to have a look at the fuse box... Yes, I am embarrassed. Jon :epicfail:

Awesome help guys. Thank you. (I tried searching for a relevant topic but only got whole dash removal.)

Hey folks Just recently took the plunge and got a mid-condition VR6 (used to have a G60 back in the day). I was driving home and turned on the lights but the dash was still in darkness (even moved the slider thing to the side of the lights switch). How difficult is changing the dashboard backlight? Anything else that might be causing the problem? Cheers for your help Jon
