  1. RIP dragon green Volkswagen Corrado, 1993-2010. Broken into on Tuesday 7th September by heartless thugs and then to be written off by insurers. It gave me so much joy, unreliability debt but most importantly love for this future classic. This was my first Corrado after a love affair since the age of 9, (now 22) when I first spotted one. From then on I always wanted to own one and bought this 1993 (103,000 miles on clock) then the head gaskett went, whole front suspension replaced, continuous idling problems-all repairs carried out by a cowboy mobile mechanic-the biggest mistake of my life and costing me a total of £1500 spent on jobs which were completely done wrong with damaging effects on both the car and my bank account! I took the car to Deutsch Tech-- a german car specialist in Glasgow who gave her some tlc and it was then they announced just how badly this mechanic had messed up for example the head needed skimmed, timing re-done and he had also broke two of the crankshaft bolts two and never told me. Numerous other jobs were done too. When I tried to get in touch with him to negotiate money back he ignored my calls etc. If things couldn't go any worse, they did. It must have been very late on Monday evening the Corrado was broken into. My windows were smashed, fuses hanging out as they had tried to hot wire her but my battery was dead. I reported this to the insurance company who have been advised by the assessors that the car is a right off. I am devastated. This project has kept me busy for months and despite all the cars problems, I wanted to get this car restored and would have kept it for a few years. I am likely to get a some money back from my insurers so shall begin the search for a 2l 16v once this has cleared. Wish me luck this time!
  2. My 2l 16v corrado has always had idling problems, however recently got worse again. It is jumping between 700rpm and 1200 rpm and won't settle. It has no power when taking off in 1st gear and generally no power at low revs. I would really appreciate any help here as I have spent hundreds of pounds trying to get this fixed by a mechanic who I think has lost patience and ran out of ideas!!!! :(
  3. It definitely says on the sticker inside the bonnet that it is dragon green, however there was a crap respray done a coupleof years back that was done on the car before I bought so it could have been changed to dragon green, wait I shall post a Picture of it and see what you think!!DSC03197.JPG[/attachment:1yfp6uw1]
  4. Mine is definitely dragon green and that is 1993, so is yours pearl effect Andrew?

  6. The Dragon Green is lovely, especially seeing those pictures of the recent respray. Do you mind me asking how much you paid for that? What a brilliant job they made. My respray is the beginning of a whole new make-over, hopefully it shall be complete by the end of August. I am getting full leather interior from another Corrado, bought new 15"TSW alloys after changing from 17"s to 15"s but they just don't look right so going back up to 17"s. Just spent about £1500 on engine and some suspension work so she is running lovely, now the fun part-the exterior, I can't wait, will keep you posted when the work is complete!! :)
  7. I currently have a Dragon Green 2l 16v Corrado which has had a really terrible paint job done on it before I bought it. I don't know whether to keep this paint code or maybe go a darker green/Blue. Does anyone have any suggestions. I would like to chage the colour slightly however have not ever seen a new shiny dragon green corrado so I am in two minds. I saw a corrado at Edinburgh airport and the guy had a lovely respray, this was a dark dark bluey/greeny colour almost, it was stunning. Any suggestions or pictures would be very much appreciated. Thanks June :D
  8. There is a lovely VR6 corrado on Highburgh Road Glasgow. I have a dragon green classic 2l 16v on the same road so we should start a West End Corrado Club, any interest to anyone? Also have spotted an 1994 green classic corrado around the area. Shared some frantic waving and cheshire cat style smiling at Charing Cross last Wednesday evening at the traffic lights. Looked like a blackberry vr6 but may have been burgundy as the sun was glaring!!! Good to see so many Corrado's, love it!!! :D
  9. Hello I have just bought my first 2l 16v 1993 Corrado, its AMAZING!! As this is my first corrado-not bad for a 22 year old female, I have lots of questions and have found the forum excellent help. I am about to change my 17" alloys for 15" as at the moment I am finding it quite a bumpy ride!! Would anyone recommend this or is there any way to improve the ride comfort without changing the current 17" wheels, for example what is the correct tyre pressure? I have had them at 36psi. I would be grateful for any help and pictures of 15"s alloys. Here is a picture of my corrado DSC03197.JPG Only a 101k on the clock-not bad for an old bird too!!! Thanks June :)
