  1. Obviously not. My Corrado has had new handbrake cables once in 185,000 miles. Agreed with Mr Baron, why would VW keep 1000s of handbrake cables in stock based on such infrequent replacement?

This is true and i agree with you, But VW wouldnt have to hold the parts there are companies out there such as FPS distribution who specialise in holding stock for the motor factor groups, why couldnt they do this for the manufacturers too? industry is too divided between aftermarket and Dealers, end result is the end user suffers,

VW dont make most parts. Parts are made under close guidance by suppliers, the suppliers specialise in what they do and will make the same type of parts for lots of manufacturers.

I work in the Automotive industry and just one of our suppliers for example supplies Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar and GM companys. Considder the amount of tools they would have to keep and store if they kept everysingle part ever produced for every model and variance.

Its so easy now to take a part and reverse engineer it its no wonder other companys are doing it , they have minimal design fees, the market already exists for the product and its not hard for a specialist to work out what material a part is made of. Its very cheap to batch produce parts out of the far east and then distribute to motor factors such as gsf or euro car parts.

unfortuantely older cars are harder to maintain as a result which is why IMO there is such a market for breakers yards as well!

Totally agree with you, What i was trying to say is if the part or OE equivalent is still being produced and stored by somone it should be available through VW,

  3. There used to be a sign in the dealers saying they carry stock of all parts for 10 years from end of manufacture. Therefore parts would have stopped being made in 2005. Any available items now have possibly been sat on shelves for 5 years unless they have also been used for other later cars or are a popular part.

I dont think anyone can seriously expect a manufacturer to carry on producing every part for every car they've ever made can they?

Ths is whats rediculous though, the car manufacturers dont make the parts, parts manufacturers do! And they are still producing the part or an OE equivalent and retailing through the Motor Factors under there own name such as Delphi etc, So why cant VW stop being so tight and at least be able to order you a part should you need it?

If VW themselves were producing the part then i could understand or even if there was no OE equivalent available its just pure cost saving and its :censored:

  4. So the OH mk1 has been getting some TLC lately with a new exhuast system as the old one was modified and the cars going back to standard, A new breather pipe as the old one was wrotten as a dead skunk and a service,

The service parts make me cry at how cheap they are what it costs me for 1 plug she can get all 4!

BUT when needing a new breather pipe i got on the blower to all parts as there just down the road who said it was a dealer only part, So i went to the dealer who said the reg wasnt coming up on his system and he needed the chassis number (keep a pic on my phone sad innit!) this didnt work either, So we did it the long way! He then tells me that the breather pipe ceeased production in 2005! and the exhaust in 2003 / 2004! And VW are deleting mk1 and older cars of the system.

needless to say i was livid, That would suggest as a loyal VW customer if i was stupid enough to take the car to the dealer they wouldnt be able to reapair it surely?

I managed to get the parts from GSF who unfortunately are on the other side of town with the Breather costing £4.99 and the exhaust from a specialist £150

Now my G60 is 1991 Manda's mk1 is 1983 if you think that parts were discontinued around six years ago and cars deleted then i recon the rado's got 3 years left!

Anyone else think its :censored: that manufacturers rely on aftermarket suppliers to fufill there shortfall? stupid if you ask me as they fuel the factors who fuel the garages that steal there business with lower prices,

Even if it does cost more you should always be able to go back to the manufacturer for a part its not like its a pen and they dont make the ink cartridges its a :censored: car! 2nd biggest purchase in most peoples lives, people shouold be rewarded for looking after the manufacturers heritage not penalised! :mad2:

  5. Im no stranger to boost as my 3.2 was supercharged at 440 bhp, i still have all the kit but it wont fit on the engine in the rado and ive already had the low compression pistons removed, One of the reasons i want the 3.2 lump in there is they are fit and forget engines really, MAF's can go but thats about it, Gonna send the loom off and do the rest at home i think,

This vid is just messing about on the dyno, We ran 440 bhp and 400 lb/ft could have seen near 500 but i opted for the smaller pulley as i got 400 bhp and 400 lb/ft out of the 2.8 i had before and blew it (dodgey fueling)

  6. well after phoning about the place as i can service a car and thats about it, the prices for ropping in my 3.2 lump are alot more than that of the 1.8t. I gues 4 pot vs 6 pot,

Gonna have to sell the BB RS's i have to help pay for a 1.8t i think, gutted, I love the g60 but its just not enough,

  7. Im a bit a hooligan round the twistys hence my phobia of sticking a v6 upfront but ive never driven the rado vr6 for comparism,

I love the g60 but after stage4 i dont really see the point in throwing money at it,

  8. Hi Guys

So i have an R32 lump and ecu with all the looms etc ready to go in my garage but i cant help but wonder if the 1.8T is a better option in terms of weight and handling?

My R32 always suffered from understeer and thats someting i love about my G60..it doesnt have any! If theres not alot in it ill likely stick with the R32 conversion as nang per buck its cheaper as i already have it, but if anyone has any first hand experience with either that would be sweet!

    cheers

  9. Been lusting after one since I was a teenager many moons ago and (as you know) I’m looking to acquire one right now.

Strange thing is that I have not met one person (car nuts or not) who doesn’t like the Corrado! Law of average tells me this is not possible, but honestly I have yet to meet one person who dislikes the C!

I have never driven one, but I remember all the car reviews at the time were good. EVO magazine had it rated as a 5-star car until a couple of years ago where it got downgraded to 4.5 stars! BOOOOO! :mad2: :D :mad2:

My wife hates them. She's the reason I didn't buy the brand new Storm I test drove in 95.

I've driven a few recently. Don't expect to be blown away compared to a modern car. I got back in my mk4 Golf 4Motion and realised how much cars had evolved since 95. My 4Mo feels quicker too. But they have real character and it feels a very 'personal' car.

I have a 4mo aswell as the raddo (G60) and my previous car was a supercharged R32 i can relate to differences in terms of noise etc but i truely feel the raddo is just as good, the turn in is better it handles like a sports car should you have big disks all round fully independent rear suspension its so ahead of its time,

IMO styling is soooo dated but thats what i love about it its pure 80's styling and thats why it looks so dam cool,

  10. Hi Guys

Firstly id like to say hello, Im Pete aka R32pete from (uk-mkivs) i have a DUB addiction, My previous car was a Golf 4mo with a 3.2 from a TT coupled with the Rotrex 450 s/c kit, , Im now breaking this car,

I love the rado and thats why im here,

Im currently shopping around for a mint one and i think ive found it but my real question is should i keep anything from my golf for the rado? is there anything on it that would be easy to upgrade the rado with?

Im looking at g60's ive never driven one and all the ones im looking at are stage 4, would it be worht me dropping on the 3.2? or is it more expense that its worth? i like my handling and i know the vr6 lump even with 4mo is a recipie for understeer,

i have been trying to read up on it but my eyes ar hurting from trawling through forums, I would imagine putting the 4mo diff on the rado is a mission?

    So basically

If you had a 4mo on your drive with a 3.2 ready to roack but a limited budget what would keep / transfer

    Any tips / ideas appreciated

    Many thanks

    Pete
