thanks for all the replys guys, i had a run in it and it seens ok now i think but there are so many things that need sorting, drivers side window has stopped working, spoiler is sticking, lumpy idle ect ect.... but most recent was today, engine was upto temp but was idling a little higher then usual, just over 1000 rpm, like the choke was stuck on or sumthing, any ideas??

hello people iv got a vr i think the gasket might be going or gone but how can i be sure? i havent drove it for 3 weeks coz iv been using my van, started it up today but found some mayo on the oil filler cap and the engine revs kept dipping slightly on idle, what could this be? how much to fix and could i drive it like it is coz i need to do a 200 mile journey xmas day, thanks for any help guys

every now and then i get a burning smell but i cant place the smell, it seems a familier smell but just cant plase it! i dont think its oil coz im not getting any blue smoke, the only smoke i get from the exhaust is thick white smoke but that goes when engine warms up. i think it only happens on shorter journeys around town and only when the engine is warm, i had a long 100 mile trip the other day and it didnt smell at all! the smell only last about 30 seconds to a minute and then it goes away and lastly only once i seen a puff of smoke come from under bonnet just as it started smelling, it was on the drivers side about 6 inches from the windscreen any ideas guys???

hi guys the other day i noticed my sunroof had tilted just enough to see fresh air through it, about a 2mm gap, thing is i didnt open it in the first place, and then i tried to close it but it wouldnt close and it wont slide, it is wired up to the alarm which auto closes the windows and sunroof when i lock it with the fob but this didnt close it either, so i tried opening it full tilt which it did but as i feared it wouldnt close again, i went into asda for an houre locked the car with the sunroof still open but when i got back the sunroof had some how closed fully on its own! so i though great i will leave it like that and not touch it but now suddenly its opened up 2mm on its own again!! any idea why this might be happening? thanks for any help you can give me.

hi guys i need some help please, I never knew a vr6 had a secondary water pump and 3 stage fans which are meant to stay on after the engine has been swiched off (if required) The reason i never knew this is becouse they have never worked since i bought it so i was none the wiser untill i was told its meant to have this feature. so how do i get this fixed? what do i look for to find the problem? the fans do come on when hot but only one speed and they come on every couple ov minutes in traffic but the dont stay on long and dont stay on after engine is been swiched off and i cant hear any water pump when the ignition is on. any help would be gr8! cheers

i just put brand new plugs and leads on her and a new battery, they wasnt very expensive just basic stuff, i'll deffinatly find a place with a vag com, thanks for your help

ok maybe if people could tell me about their vr's speed wise? mine has no low down grunt at all, only when it reaches just over 3k rpm does it it pick up but even then it dont feel like a 2.9 v6 should, i drove a 3l v6 pug 406 last year and it was very torquey, what might cause it to loose power?

hey iv had my vr for about two months now and im just not happy with it, i really think it may have lost power over the years and its driving me crazy, maybe its just me but to me it feels like it doesnt have the guts i thought it would after reading alot of reviews i was lead to belive this would ba a crazy fast car but mine feels sluggish and its very frustrating, so what im looking for is someone with a well looked after vr as close to standered as possible as mine is standerd to drive my vr and tell me what they think, i live in newport south wales so if thers anyone close with a vr you consider to be fast then please would you come and compare and take mine for a thrash to see if thers something rong with it or if its just me, i can travel to meet half way is there is no1 close cheers

im not sure if the spoiler runs off a relay swith but thats how it sounded, like a relay switching on and off, it would click-spoiler goes up, click-spoler stops, click-up, click-stop and it will do this over and over untill it reaches the top

hey, iv tried doing a search for this but cant find anything, anyway my spoiler doesnt come up as smooth as it should, it comes up about 5mm at a time, stop for a second then another 5mm stop and so on, it takes about 20 or more seconds to get to the top ant the same going back down again, its the same on the switch and automaticaly while driving, i tried it the other day on the switch with the engine off and i could here a little clicking sound coming from the back, the click was swithing on and off as the spoiler was trying to go up? can anyone help me please? thanks

well i managed to get the job done, wasnt as simple as i thought though, first the alarm kept going off every time i dissconnected the battery, couldnt figure out how to stop it so i just replace the battery with the alarm sounding, its ok now, then two plugs started cross threading :bad-words: but sorted itself out and i had no trouble taking the leads off but loads of trouble getting them to pop back on, im still not sure if they are aon as tight as they should be, seems to run ok, abit lumpy but it was lumpy anyway, thats why i changed the plug and leads in the first place, so next job "moro, clean the ISV.
