No worries mate, enjoy your new car, my sons went this morning.
-
Rob, did you get your bathroom finished? glad you found a Corrado, my sons has now been sold, and i think i am more disappointed than him, lol. Cheers Kev

After recently fitting a new steering rack to my sons VR6 i am having problems getting the tracking sorted. I fitted the tie rods roughly in the same position they came off, but i have run out of adjustment on the offside rod! Anyone know the lhs tie rod measurement for a VR6, also is it best to ignore the steering wheel position and adjust that after adjusting tracking?
-
Hooray it runs, no idea what it was though, my master tech mate came round to have a look and unplugged different connectors, testing things out, went to check the injector pulse and it fired up, probably a dodgy pin on one of the connectors.
-
I have just been reading this thread...http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51596-G60-earth-derived-on-mount-goes-where/page2&highlight=lambda+plug, thing is whilst doing the rack you have to remove the bolt from the rear mount, once my bolt was removed i realised it was bent, i replaced it with a normal ht bolt and made a bracket for the lambda plug, in my haste to finish the job i left the plug to just hang near the bracket not actually bolted to it, if i have read the above thread correctly i feel i may have sussed my confusion as to why it started straight after leaving the plug resting on the bracket and then it moving and not having contact.

Kevhaywire, one of the mechanics at work tested it on his fandangled tester and it failed, having said that his book didn't have the exact number of the amp to test, although the pic of it looked the same. Will try your voltage at pin 15 test.
-
No my ignition switch isn't black, although it is working at the mo i will get a new one, my problem is looking more like the ignition module.
-
It already has new ECU and Fuel pump relays fitted, i also tried putting the old ones back and trying that, it is not the ignition switch either, i get power on the black wire when cranking. One of the mechanics at work is going to test the ign amp for me, i am still baffled as to why it started fine after fitting the rack but a few hours later failed.
-
Cheers Roger, i have been having a good search around the site and i am pretty certain it is the ignition switch.
-
Hmm, not sure about the key, it started on the button after fitting the rack, then a few hours later, no spark.
-
I have just fit a new power steering rack to my sons corrado vr6, i started it and bled the air out of the rack, a bit later my son came home and tried to start the car and it just will not fire, it is getting fuel but no spark, wtf?

In answer to my question, taking the two bolts from the top of the mounts does allow the subframe to drop clear, i have been following the guide in the kb, i know that was on a G60 but most of the sizes of the bolts is totally different on the VR6.
-
Ok, i think my last post maybe doesn't make sense, i have now got the engine supported and i have removed the bolts on top of the rear engine and gearbox mounts. Will this now enable me to drop the subframe clear?
-
Next dumb question, i thought i would crack off the engine mounting bolts in preperation for getting stuck in at the weekend, anyhow i have read the G60 rack removal guide in the KB, it says there are three 13 mil bolts to undo, this VR6 has only two which i have cracked off only to turn a half turn then tighten again, i guess this is just corrosion on the protruding part of thread, i have left them soaking with Rost off, my question is, the only other bolt is the one right on top of the mounting, this is a 16 mil though, but does this bolt need to be removed to get the mounting off? Sorry about the long winded lead up to the question, but i thought it best to try and explain the whole story.

Thanks 3corsameal, i have been home for lunch and had a look, they are there, a bit tucked away though, no wonder i didnt remember seeing them.
-
Thanks kevhaywire, i dont recall seeing any hooks, presumably i can bolt other hooks on there, we have assorted ones in the workshop.
-
Right i am about to do my sons steering rack, i have use of a proper support beam, what i need to know is, where on the vr6 engine are the mounting points for hooks to support the motor? I have done a search on here but cant find the answer. TIA Kev

I have just had a look at the bottle and pipe coming from it, no leaks, i topped the bottle up yet again and left it propped up where i could see it whilst i sarted the engine and noticed that when i turned the steering one way the level stayed the same when i turned it the other way it was like i had turned on a tap and the level shot down. I suppose it must be going in to the gaitor, i will get it up in the air and check it out, where is the best place for a reconditioned rack if needed? or is it a doable job to replace the seals in the old rack? Thanks for all the help so far. Kev
-
Thanks for the replies chaps, but this is really weird, the fluid has gone down overnight! just sat on the drive, surely it would only leak into the gaitors when being driven and the fluid is under pressure?
-
I haven't peeled the gaitors back yet, but with the amount of fluid i have put in there i think i would of been able to feel it, i have been thinking, if the pipes or actual reservoir had a leak directly under the reservoir is there a part of the inner wing that might hold an amount of fluid that can't be seen from below? IYKWIM.
-
My son came home the other night complaining his power steering on his 93 Corrado VR6 had gone, i took a look and the fluid level and it was very low, so i bled it by getting the wheels off the ground and turning the steering lock to lock, then took it up the road, all seemed fine untill the next morning it was started up and it was making a right racket again, yep the fluid was low again. I have since bought it into work and got it up in the air, there are no signs of a leak and there doesn't feel like the rack gaitors have fluid in them, i have put about 2 ltrs of fluid in over the last couple of days, anyone know where it might be going!? Cheers Kev

Thanks for the reply Supercharged, i did see that thread on my search, i just wanted to confirm my query, i actually did have a quick look at my sons car earlier, and the electrical connecter is indeed just a blank, so i can ignore that and just bung the pipe up and fit a catch tank, it made me think back to my old GSXR1100, i had a K&N crankcase vent filter on that, is there nothing similar for this application? Thanks Kev

I have had a look around the site and introduced myself, now it's time for the inane questions :D I have had a search for PCV problems but can't find a conclusive answer, my sons 93 VR6 hasn't got a PCV, just a pipe from rocker cover to inlet pipework, what year did they start fitting them? Also if i fit a catch tank, can i block the pipe where the electrical connector sits on the nylon tube and keep the connector or do away with the connector alltogether? TIA Kev
