Thanks for the replies. Cam cover was leaking oil previously but has been cured. Only part of exhaust I haven't renewed is down pipe so could be culprit. I have a spare so may change and do manifold gasket as well. Hope this cures it.

This is worse when hot. Doesn't seem to be any blow from manifold area. Weird.

Hi folks, when I turn fan heater on in car I get a strong smell of exhaust fumes through vents. Car runs spot on. 1.8 16v. Am I being over worried thinking head gasket. Any ideas ??.

Whats difference between abf and 9a. 9a engines seem to be cheaper to buy than abf. Would a 9a block give same power as abf with kr head and fuelling. Confused...

If I was to install an Abf block vice Kr block, is this a simple swap or is there any mods required. Can I keep original Kr head and fuelling. Also does Kr gearbox work. Just thinking about winter upgrade while she's hibernating.

Totally agree with comments. Would be ruined if you used as daily, but whats the point of spending that much and not using it.

Cant be many as good as that left though.

There is a minted valver on ebay. 38000 miles . 1 owner, but its £7500. What in peoples opinion is it worth or is it worth that if your willing to pay that. Seems a bit ott to me.

Hi guys, what's the easiest way to remove a KR engine ?.

Shouldn't have to. If its like 16v cars clutch master is kept topped up from brake master. Even if you empty brake master,the clutch master will remain full. I had to replace brake master and clutch was ok after. Well, until slave cylinder failed week later !!

Thanks for all the info. 72 bar is on the pump. Pump seemed ok before I fitted it, belts all ok.I will have a chat with my very helpful local VW parts guy. See if he can shed any further light on pressures. Cant get near it this week for work. Can I get back to you about vr pump, cheers.

There are numbers and stuff on polo pump but nowt decipherable on old pump. I will have to have a look and right them down. Sure something aint right. Should be able to turn wheels at stand with one hand ???.

I used power steering pump off a polo in breakers. It is identical in shape to my seized one from corrado. My steering seems awful heavy for power steering. Does anyone know if these pumps run different pressures, polo one had much bigger pulley than corrado one. I fitted corrado pulley on pump.
