My 2.9 original corrado engine has blown up, anyway whilst I was struggling to find a good replacement my brothers mates golf vr6 2.8 has been rear ended. He has scrapped the car but kept a few bits that were good on it.... Ie wheels, seats and engine which has only done 70000 miles (only thing is he has scrapped the engine auxiliaries). He said I can have the engine from it. Does anyone know if it will fit and if so is there gonna be any problems doing a straight swap for mine? Apart from a small loss of power?

Welcome to the forum.£2k budge for the engine / ancilleries, or £2k for the engine and getting all the work done?
to be honest i was hoping to get engine and work for about 1500. do you think thats realistic?

My engine is fully blown up and seeing as it needs replacing I might as well get the most powerful engine that will fit in with relative ease. I know there is only the 2.8 golf and 2.9 vr6 engine that fits straight in but i want more power so I wondered if anyone knew of a more powerful alternative? My budget is about £1500 could possibly stretch to 2k
Has anyone remapped thier vr6

Firstly thanks to everyone who helped me with my last post. I now have a good engine being fitted as we speak. Now I was wondering how much it costs to remap my vr6 and how much power it will gain?
Also does anyone know of other cheap ways to gain lots of power?
