  1. Hi All

After a recent job change that has meant I have to move city I am struggling to complete this 24v conversion

My car was originally a very clean 8 valver and was very happy with it

It was my daily driver for 4 years

I have installed Weitec KW coilovers and golf 4 rear calipers and new lines

Then installed angel eyes and remote central locking

Then decided to install a 20 valve...nothing wrong with the 8v I just wanted to play (had another daily driver)

refurbished a Audi TT APP unit and attached my gearbox with uprated 5th gear (longer)

Cyl head skimmed..new valve guides and valves lapped....have a complete new gasket kit. Head needs to be installed

Bought complete widetrack VR6 suspension and refurbished with powder coat and brand new control arms bearings rod ends discs all round

I have a new intercooler and turbo and manifold new in box

Now the trouble is I no longer have a garage or anywhere to work from and I'm living in another city from the car

The car is a rolling chassis on the original suspension and is ready to receive complete refurbished suspension and engine and brakes etc

It will come with the original 8v motor as well The items you will need to source are a QPENG ecu kit or ECU and exhaust mods

It could do with a drivers seat recover

bodywork is excellent but has signs of bubbling on 1 rear arch

Ive owned it about 6 years in all

make me an offer and I may just accept

I am looking to rent a garage but haven't found anything suitable to complete the car but this may change as its a sad day having to sell

    email me on [email protected]

  2. Hi all

Can anyone advise me on fitting the Teves 20 to my late model 2.0 8V Corrado….On reading this I don't think the last 8valve models were the same as all the others as I struggled to get a master cylinder a few years ago…..My car has the ABS pump fitted to the firewall but it only has two outlet pipes on the master cylinder instead of the 4 as on VR6… it seems to have a travel sensor on it….( can i leave this in place and just don't connect it up

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B981VOwPwLQLcUQwb2dsTTRqR3M/view?usp=sharing

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

  3. I have been stewing on doing an ABF mod to my 8valve but lately I have become more interested in the turbo option

I have a pristine 8 valve but it was a daily driver and is about to hit 200000 miles ......no smoke or oil used and runs like a top. It has had a respray and debadged grille with Borbet A. looks fab

I bought the car due to loving the Corrado shape

As it was going to be a daily driver I chose the 8v as most 16v were driven hard

I run a small racing team and have access to my own rolling road I have a Motec ECU with CDI spark unit that I intend to use and all the sensor that I could possibly need

I am also lucky in that I have access to a full machine shop to do any modding or fabrication.

I want to bolt in the 1,8t and then work on all the extra's over the next year as I have another daily driver now

    Now there will be questions

What intercooler to go for as the two options so far are Sprinter and landrover TD5....TD5 seems better so far

I have bought an APP 20VT engine without turbo and will investigate what to do with the lack of turbo next

Ive found an exhaust manifold that accepts a T25 that seems like a better option than going with the stock K03...

    What do you think?

  5. Thanks for all the interest....reading all the adverts I see that a breathable one is a good idea!

I am very worried about the cover scratching my car as it has a great high shine finish that I spend a lot of time

    keeping good.

Thanks for the offer ridlymaca....I will see where this leads me and may still be interested if the cover is the right one

Looking on their website they have two versions a 49.99 and a 34.99.......which would yours be?

  6. I have been doing a bit of research on installing the ABF 2.0 16v into my Corrado 8v

My car is one of the last made fitted with the Mk3 Golf 2.0 8v 115ps lump and it seems that the ABF goes straight in onto my original gearbox. I am very happy with the current motor as a daily driver but as its approaching 180000 miles it will need refreshing sometime

I just missed an auction to buy an engine but it was because I was worried as the what parts I need to get from the donor car

What do I need from the donor car

Engine only ...... I believe my box fits ABF fine......is this correct

Engine ECU ...... do I need to take the ABF engine ECU and wiring harness........

key ...............do i need the ABF donor car ignition barrel?

exhaust............does the ADY exhaust fit the new ABF manifold

clocks.............read somewhere that my clocks are fine with ABF engine

engine mounts......will the standard ones fit

BONNET.............I have the late model bonnet

is there anything else I need to know to do this conversion and would you recommend it or suggest I rebuild by stock 8V engine instead

  8. Hi Jacqui

I have set of Jamex Coilovers that came off my Corrado 2.0

My Corrado failed an MOT as a helper spring had cracked and as the car is my daily driver I had to fix it quick

I went out and bought a new set of coilovers as I couldnt find Jamex Replacement Springs in a hurry

Well after passing MOT I had time to look for the Jamex parts needed and have found that they are readily available from Demon Tweeks

I therefore have a full set of Jamex fully adjustable coil overs for sale that will come with new springs both main and helper springs

The damper bodies are a gold colour and you can even choose what colour you want the springs powder coated.......the reason for this is that I couldnt get helper springs with the same colour so have taken them to be painted

I would be looking for £300 for the lot and can even send them boxed in the new Weitec Box that my replacements came in

By the way I love the look of your car which is soo similar to mine so have attached a picture

Yours wins the polishing contest however

Please let me know if your interested

    Rob

  9. Not sure if "feeler" type threads are frowned upon on here, so if they are please feel free to delete.

I'm thinking about changing my rims but don't really know what I'm after or even if I should do it! So...

Got a set of mint 17" BBS RCs for swap/PX that were refurbished by The Wheel Specialist in Fareham last October, in a factory style polished ally finish at a cost of £380. They have covered less than 500 miles since and are still in freshly re-furb'd condition. Have been sealed with Zaino ClearSeal and waxed with Chemical Guys Wheel Guard. Come with genuine BBS 3D carbon fibre centre caps and a BBS removal tool (the decent one not the crappy VW one). Can be seen in my profile pic and in the picture below. If anybody's seriously interested I will get some pictures of the set on Saturday.

Not really sure what I'm looking for swap wise, maybe something dishy, RH ZW1 type but open to suggestions - so what ya got? :D

Was wondering if you still had these alloys available for swap / sale

I have Borbet A on mine and love the look but fancy a change

Seen a picture of yours on a Corrado and I loved the look

    I need 4 x 100 as mine is a 2.0

    Thanks

  10. MOT expires next June 2014

**** pictures of car on EBay ******

For Sale 2.0 8v VW Corrado 1994. The 8 valvers are very rare as most 8 valvers have been broken up

This is a great daily driver and has both power and good fuel economy to boot (40mpg)

I am helping an elderly owner sell his Corrado as he does not have internet.

He has maintained the car to a very high standard and all work has been carried out by VW specailists "The Phirm" down in Hartney Whitney. Tim from "The Phirm" will vouch for this car as he has carried out all maintenance for a number of years

Tony has owned this car for the last 12 years and due to his age has had to get an automatic so we took his beloved Corrado off the road and got him an auto.

It has a big valve head fitted by Tim Stiles Racing 5 years ago

Stainless cat back exhaust and all new shock absorbers fitted in the last two years

A high level 3rd brake light has been fitted and is removable

The car is ripe for a new owner to style and upgrade the car to his taste

It currently has stock 15" alloys and tyres

The car has 165000 miles on it and and is SORN. It is stored in a garage in Uxbridge and can be viewed by arrangement if you call me on 0786 777 4033

Tony is asking £1500 for the car

  11. Hi Blondie

I know of a burgandy red 2.0 8 valve that is mechanically very sound and will be up for sale in the next month

Its in the Reading area and has been looked after by "the phirm" with lots replaced including all suspension

Let me know if you want more details........I run an 8V myself and love it as a daily driver.

The bigger engines are so thirsty

  12. Ive got them on my Corrado 195/45 x 16 on the front and 225/40 x 16 at the back

My car is as low as possible and the rear tyres hit the arches......the previous owner had 215 on the rear and they didnt hit but looked stretched

7.5J on the front and 9J on the rear

  13. I have just purchased the bits to to the job and its all a bolt on fit........there is a bit of pad over hang I believe that will cause a ridge on your pads

Ive read an article where you use vauxhall discs that require machining the centre hole slightly to accept VW centre and use washer to space the calipers a few mm to align. the guys whove done it have had no problems

I think I will go this route myself

I am busy trying to find a 25.4mm master cylinder to do at the same time and will let you know what I find

My car is a late model with ABS so the master cylinder has only two outlets where most cars have the 4 output version

  14. leds wont work unless you have 3 per dial of the SMDs. If not, just get bulb replacements from Maplins.

Maplins sell a strip of 12 volt led on a self adhesive strip

I installed a strip of these across the top of the binnacle in place of the bulbs and if you leave the green strip in place it looks exactly like standard.

I then took the green strip out and I was pleasantly suprised at the brighter dash illumination that I now prefer

last month the clock bulb went and I ordered a bulb from VW that was not the right on

I installed the same Maplins LED strip behind the clock and it works fine though a bit brighter now than the other display

Ill convert that one soon to get the balance right

The led bulbs dont give off heat like the std bulbs

  15. I had the same issue and it turned out to be one of the rear wheel speed sensors.. the cold increases the restistance which sets off the warning lamp

Get a printout from VAG when lamp is on and if it show a rear speed sensor (like mine) get one on FleaBay to seventeen pounds....it was a perfect part with same connectors and fittings.....problem now fixed
