> The VW parts catalogue. I have the 2003 model year on CD. It's a must have!!!!!!!! So how would one go about aquring a copy of this then?

Unfortunatly I don't know the fault codes how do I go about finding out what they are.
-
Does the 2l 16v have a valve anywhere in the fuel system for re-presurising the fuel tank or venting gas, It could be somthing is causing the fuel tank to vacum after a few mins.
-
Ah bollocks thats one thing less that I can think off thats causig all this grief, I am getting propperly confused. ARRRGGGGGHHHH.
-
Out of curiosity you can buy a fault code tester in halfords, which says on the box works with a 9a engine which I am lead to belive is the corrado 2l 16v. Anyway are there any other ways of reading the fautl codes, I know on vauxhalls you can connect two pins on the diagnostic plug and it flashes the codes up on the dash. If this is possible on corrado's could some one tell me how and what the fault codes are. Thanks Al

Cheers I will go and have a look at that now and see if that is the cause of the problem.

Losing power under load does sound like the symtoms that its having, And it seems to tickover perfectly so this is also a symtom, gonna have to go and but a golf manual and see what I can work out. Do you have any idea where the vac line to the ecu is, or infact where the ECU is I am new to this corrado thing, give me a calibra anyday. Cheers Al

Hi its me again, I have spent the last week playing with my friends 16v corrado, as it has been running like s****, anyway the way it was running lead me to belive that it was a dodgy valve, (it wasn't I compression tested all the cylinders) so I moved on and eventaully found that the distributor and rotor arm were very tatty so anyway changed them an it appeared to run like a dream. I then gave it back to my friend who drove it home got about 1/4 mile down the road and it lost all power an started stuttering along again, DAMN, anyway this is leading me to think that mabey a valve in the fuel system is causing a vacum when you start driving the car or the MAF sensor is dead. Could anyone shed any light on how I check any or all of these things or if they have come accross this and know the solution. Cheers in advance Al ****MOD EDIT**** swearing-vr6storm

Hi > allstaruk , blimey, You've learned alot in your short stay here! Yep, still can't get the bloody thing to run propperly though. > You'll have to get a Corrado now. Nah sorry lads just not enough power there for me.
-
How fast have you had out of your standard VR?
allstaruk replied to VRev6's topic in General Car Chat
I have borrowed a mates vr6 mk3 golf and (on a private rd) got 143 and it was still pulling so who knows, still know where near my mates skline who I was trying to keep up with, oh well suppose thats the extra 200bhp nitrous he has got. -
You can get a manual for the vr6 and the g60 by bently, the 2l 16 is almost indentical to the golf mk2 1.8 16v just a taller block, the passat manual is very similar to a 2l 16v just running a diffrent engine manigment system. You just have to be creative.

The car is not mine, I drive a calibra and am about to get a maxda rx-7 (sorry guys) the car belongs to my best mate. Anyway it seems a bit low in the vrev range but I am sure it should better than it is, even the owner nopticed a lack of power. > is the water and oil ok..any mayonaise in either? does it use water No, the heads not porus if thats what your thinking. Al

Excelent, I am on to the next problem now, I have compression tested in now and it doesn't seem to be the problem that I initially thought that it was. The car seems to have a lack of power, until 3.5 to 4k in the rev range where it suddenly starts to pull, now this lead me to thing that it was a valve but I have compression tested all the cylinders and they come up at 170psi except the 4th one which is about 15psi down, I don't belive that that is enough to create this problem. I really am at a loss at the moment and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
-
Right cheers, which engine is the 2l 16v then.
-
Nice one mate thats gonna be a great help.
-
Ok cool that should narrow down what I am looking for does that mean that I need a 2l 16 MK3 golf manual to get the engine as close as possibe.
-
How similar are the engines though, or how do I find out what audi it was in so I can get that manual.
-
I have done a search and can't find anything so here goes. As no one seems to be able to point me to a manul for the corrado 2l 16v or what other car the engine is in (apparently its an audi but god knows which one) I am gonna have to to a lot of guess work to take the head off. Has any one got any advice, what order everyhting comes off, where to shut off the fuel lines, what gaskets need replacing etc. al
-
The engine has done about 125k so it looks like it could well be the valves got monday off work so gonna do a compression test then. Does any one have a a manual which covers taking the head off a 2l 16 v golf then. AL
-
Nice one, What audi is it or how do I go about finding out cause I would like to know before I strip the head.
-
My friend has a 2l 16v corrado 1993, anyway I have been helping him fix it, now its not driving very nicely and seems to have a lack of power until it hits about 3.5k rev's also it doesn't idle to well, this leads me to belive that it may have a leaky valve. Are there any other things that you can think of that can cause this before I have to do a compression test on it. Also it there anywhere I can get a manual for the engine don't car about the rest of the car but if I have to take the head off and put a new valve in then I want a manual really. So is it the same engine as a 2l 16v mk3 golf. Also how easy is it to get valves and how much would it be likely to cost to do this. Cheers in advance, Al
-
Nice one cheers mate I will have a go at that on saturday, anythings better that listerning to my fried moaning about his car not working propperly.

Nice one lads, Where is the ICV on a 2l 16v corrado then and whats the best way to clean in out.
