  2. Last few hours left, some proper bargains to be had
  3. Hi mate. After some internet searching it looks like they came out of a '91 bumper which we think was originally a 16v Cheers Chris
  4. Hi all, still got a few bits left over from my Corrado and Golf VR6. Need them out the way so its all on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ping-ster/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 Cheers Chris
  5. Love to but the forum won't let me.
  6. Cheers mate tis a handy tool. Went to Manchester to pick up a plasmer cutter a couple of months back. 540 mile round trip and used £44 worth of diesel, was happy with that. Even got 40mpg out of it towing the corrado on the trailer round the M25!
  7. Anyone got suggestions on what different parts are worth?
  8. Sorry, yes to be clear this was originally a 16v thats had a VR6 conversation. I'm assuming they've used a complete doner vehicle as it has 5 stud and larger brakes. Can see this being another thing to go against its value. This was my thought aswell, assumed complete it wouldn't be worth a great deal. Tbh I've no issues with breaking rare cars as it means the parts are being used to keep nicer cars on the road. Gonna put the engine back together and get it running and then decide. Would rather sell parts on here than chuck it on ebay though.
  9. Hi all. Well the more I look into getting the Rado put on the road the more I realise it could be quite a task. Could probably throw everything together for an MOT but tbh I wouldn't be happy with that at all. However to put it on the road looking good i'm talking re-spray, suspension re-placement and no doubt new bushes, various interior plastic repaired/replaced, etc. Problem is I bought it with the entention of it being something that I could put on the road with little effort and enjoy for the summer then probably sell on as I have other projects. But now its looking like its gonna take too much time and money to get up to the standards that I'd want it to be. Too many toys, not enough time. Thing is I have the space to break it so thats fine but I'm not really sure what its worth in parts and I don't want to be chucking away valuable items incase they are of use to people. Here's a run down of what the car has: Full black leather seats and door cards, not heated or electric but in really good nick, no tears. Gonna give it a clean and Supaguard to double check Grey dash Dials reading 72K Working electric windows and mirrors Working boot spoiler Bodywork is rust free but does have scuffs/bad re-spray in places 15" wheels with good tires Standard (as far as I can tell) VR6 running gear VR6 gearbox, no knocks of bangs (actually have two) Rear lights complete Passenger headlight with damage to rear mount Drivers headlight lens (plastic mounts damaged) All glass Standard exhaust Grey carpets VR6 engine, descovered headgasket had blown after I had bought it. Have had the head checked, cleaned and skimmed along with new valve guides and had the valves re-cut. Plus ordered a new gasket set and head bolts and my plan is to put the engine back together and get it running. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head and here are some pictures: Would much rather put it on the road but the more I think about it the more I fear its just too much for me to take on right now. Any help on pricing would be greatly appricated. Cheers Chris.
  10. My current daily uber shed is this 1995 B4 Passat tdi, purchased for the princely some of £100 on the last day of its MOT. Spent a grand total of £22 getting it through another MOT and have done 8000 faultless miles in the last 6 months. That includs strapping my car trailer too it! Even has heated leather and cruise control!!! Chris
  11. Picked up my head last night, surface a bit pitted in places but nothing to worry about. Very light skim, new exhaust valve guides, cleaned and valves re-cut. Pictures to follow.
  12. Dropped the Golf head off at the engineers this morning, gonna change the exhaust guides as well as the other bits. Also finished getting the Rado's engine ready to remove the head. Un-bolted the down pipe and remove the manifolds. Just leaves the timing chain, cams and head bolts but gonna wait till the new parts are here and the new head is ready to go on. Hopefully that'll be the weekend. Parts that i'm planning on changing are: Full head gaskets set Head bolts Thermostat and seal Main water pump Upper tensioner Anything else I should consider?
  13. Thanks for the info mate, very useful. Ah my fan is only single so probably came of the original 16v engine. Would explain why it doesn't fit very well. Could a MOD move the thread please?
  14. Ah true I suppose. Having a chat with the engineer he said they get a lot of older VW engines in and usually the valve guides are fine or at worse just the exhaust side need changing. I noticed a little play in the exhaust side and none on the inlet side. There gonna check them for me and let me know what they would recomend. Would love to get it ported and polished at the same time but reckon we're talking at least another £200 and I'm too skint for that lol. ---------- Post added at 09:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:25 AM ---------- Stripped the Golf head down yesterday ready to take to the machine shop: Valves look straight but will have them checked to make sure and lifters don't appear to be warn so thats good. ---------- Post added at 10:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 AM ---------- Also should a VR6 fan be single or twin?
  15. Done well with your price mate. Best quote I have is £150 for skim, seats re-ground and valves re-faced. Plus £11 each to supply and fit new valve guides.
  16. Ah ok, cheers fella.
  17. Do you need adapters if you have 5 stud already? Really like the look of the 5 spoke 17's.
  18. Thanks mate, I'll do a bit of research. Would love to do some tuning whilst its in bits but gotta remember its ment to be a cheap runaround lol!
  19. Thanks very much for the info mate, I'll start phoning round some local engine builders and see what prices I can get.Don't suppose you still have the link to where you got the new valve guides from do you? Ok handy to know that I can use the Golfs coil pack head then. And thanks I'll have a go at removing the cam next week instead and then I will be able to see whats what in the engine. Ha ha I will try, would much prefer to put it on the road and use it as a fun summer toy!
  20. I'll just have to see how mines goes. Plan on re-building the engine as should get my money back on a good engine anyway. If the rest of the car turns out to be too much of a problem than I'll just break it for spares.
  21. Yer can see the advantage of buying to good one lol. Ended up making a locking tool so got that covered. Next job I have to do is to remove one of the cam sprokets so I can get the chain off. Just hope I don't brake anything.
  22. I'm also after information about getting head work done and cost of parts. Are there any good places in Essex I can talk to about this? Chris
