  1. Things are done in a bit of a random order. I sell bits off and then buy whatever crops up at the right price, so bare with me. Few more from her first day home:
  2. Walked round to pick her up. She had a few starting issues, apparantly down to a dodgy coil. Got her home:
  3. I sold a Mk1 Astra I was playing with last year and promised the Mrs no more projects for a while.....that lasted about 3 months. Found this VR eBay less that half a mile from where I live. Pics from the eBay ad: She only had a months ticket left and running issues but pretty rust free. Horrendous wheels!
  4. Thought I'd start a build thread for my VR, I've done one for most of the cars I've built. Normally I play with air cooleds but they are getting so bloody expensive. I keep toying with the idea of selling her (she's on eBay at the minute) but that's due to lack of time to play. This is my second Corrado, I owned one a few years back (about 2009). I swapped it for a Karmann Ghia, a VR6 as well but it was my daily and the mpg scared the crap out of me so I only kept it a month before part exchanging it for a diesel New Beetle. My first:
  5. Cheers again. I'll get all the bits together and then pull the underneath of the dash off and have a go. I can find loads of info about the control unit and matrix but not a lot on the cables, I'll keep hunting
  6. Cool, cheers mate. Do you know where the other end of the cable atatches too?
  7. Forgive my ignorance, is a '93 L reg late? If so, I'll have this off you
  8. Right, just managed to get Photobucket working You can see that the two toothed wheels on the right aren't touching and both the arms are flapping about. The bottom toothed pulley doesn't feel like it's sitting where it should and it all generally feels a bit 'wafty'
  9. After some help please Finally got the bowden cables off of the heater control and managed to get the control unit out. Of the three cables, two seem to move okay and one is really hard to move so I assume I need to replace it, where's the best place to get a new cable please? Two of the cables work off one toothed wheel on the back of the heater control, it's the lower one of the two, attatches to the arm that is under the toothed wheel. Where does the other end of the cable disappear to? On the rear of the control unit again, the thin metal strip (that sits between two of the wheels and gives you your clicks)had been forced under one of the wheels. I've managed to get it out but the strip won't stay in place now and the toothed wheel with the two arms does not touch the toothed wheel behind the control knob, so the knob spins and does nothing! Considering the price of second hand ones on eBay, am I better off biting the bullet and buying a new control unit? If so, there are two part numbers on the underside:- 358 819 045 and 358 820 045 Which would I use to order the correct replacement?
  10. I'll have the wiper delete from you. Could you PM me your Paypal details please?
  11. 'm looking at selling my VR even though I've only had her a few months, I've started a new job and will be commuting by train so can't warrant having two cars sitting on the drive doing nothing.1993 Lreg VR6164, 000 milesJust been serviced by me, Bosch plugs, Bosch and Hengst filters.Brand new 57i induction kit fitted a month or so ago.Brand new Bosch S4 Silver battery.*Both door handles have been modified with machined parts so no more broken handles.Lupo wiper arms with original style blades. It's a clean car and has been an ongoing project. At the minute I have the headlining out trying to sort thw sunroof. I've fitted a Mk3 Golf mechanism but the motor is no good so hunting for a new motor. Some stone chips, few little parking dents but no rust.Heater controls need sorting,**it's either off or full blast.Mk4 Golf steel wheels with budget tyres, tyres have done less than 100 miles.11 months MOT, advisorie on corroded rear brake pipe.No tax, she is currently SORN.All red rears with LED bulbs and resistors so the indicators flash orange and at the right speed.Clear side repeaters.Runs well, occasionally a bit lumpy on tick over but she sat for a long time before I got her amd even since I've had her the longest journey she's done is about 5 miles so she needs a good drive.I'm aftet £1250 but open to offers. I
  12. Just had another play. Removed the golf motor from the mech and it doesn't do anything, just clicks. Fitted the original corrado motor and it will tilt and go down again but it will open about an inch then you have to keep pressing the open button for it to move a few mm at a time' the same with closing. Does that sound like it's the motor that's duff?
  13. Aircooled? I've always found them pretty easy, rewired both of my buggies in a weekend each.
  14. One motor hasn't been off so it should be in the right position and the other is still off the frame. Don't understand why the original one is no longer working and the new one blows the fuse. I should have stuck to air cooled, so much simpler
  15. Right, this gets weirder. I just tried the old motor (not attached to anything) the fuse didn't blow but the motor would start moving and then slow down/stop, that was tilt and slide, it would do a few revolution s and then slow down as though there was a flat battery. Tried the motor that is attached to the sunroof/car, tilted fine, then popped the fuse when I tried to wind it back down. Everything seems to move freely when I uwe the allen key?
  16. Excellent, cheers guys, I'll have another look this afternoon
  17. Right, I found a wiring diagram online and they do share a live feed. Fuse number 21 and it keeps blowing. Just put a 20a in as it's all I had, light worked fine, sunroof tilted then popped the fuse as soon as I tried to put it down. Any ideas please?
  18. Just tried it without the motor attached, still nothing. But I've just checked and the interior lights are no longer working either, do they run off the same live?
  19. Cool, cheers guys I'll give that a try at the weekend. I just thought that the old mech and motor would have worked, there is no glass/metal sunroof attached just the motor and frame
  20. I had the usual problem of the mech not working on my sunroof, I replaced it with the motor and mech from a Mk3 Golf. It worked perfectly. Went out to clean the car at the weekend, tried to open the sunroof, it tilted fine but just clicked once when I tried to put the tilt done and stopped working. I assumed it was the switch (toggle type) so I ordered a replacement, the flat style from a golf. Just fitted that and still nothing. I had a google and apparently the sunroof and spoiler are on the same fuse, spoiler is working fine. Tried the old sunroof and the motor isn't doing anything on that either. Any ideas please?
