Me too David, I still have the V5 and the tartan check interior from my 1980 series 1 GTi. Basically sold the dashboard, steering wheel and some other bits and bobs and ended up with a useable Corrado with the funds! Think when im old(er) I will probably regret letting it go to the point that it couldnt be restored, but hey ho. My dad still goes on about his Mk1 1275 Cooper S mini, they're worth about 25k now! Good subject for a new thread this; Whats the most expensive car you let go and wish you still had? Dougie

Well just to close this off, They appear to be working well at motorway speed, no lifting or chattering, but what appears to be the drivers blade not making full contact on the downward sweep at the nearside. Nothing that a small bend of the blade wont cure. Not fitted Aeor wipers and using (new) Bosch standard blades as David said, are working well. Dougie

I have come to the conclusion I am going to be immune to all the problems coming down the line, as I purchased a grey Audi and not a white one! Its amazing that no matter where you go, we all seem to be of a like mind in terms of opinion on how things are being run, yet our "elected" Government do not appear to be able to reflect that in policies or law. I think we should be more "French"; Vive La Revolution.

Or Independence ;-) Come and join us in a huge breakaway from Londonia. They no longer represent the vast majority of people in this country. I dont want to start a debate on Scottish independance, but surely the current level of inequality in this country (Uk) cannot continue. In my opinion it has accelerated the political divide between the people of this island. ###### Stands off soapbox #######

Oh god, dont say that! Thought I had cracked it, even just bought one on ebay!

Many thanks to you all for your answers, I have changed the original post to reflect what you said. If you think what I have said is not accurate, or want me to add anything then let me know. Sorry Kev, left out the welding the hole up option! Dougie

Thanks Timbo, I hope to edit my original post with all the options and their pros and cons Dougie

Many thanks for the replies guys. Can I ask those of you that fitted the models I didn't know work as well. Did you had to do any sort of modifications to fit them, or were they simply plug and play? ie, the panel fits the hole perfectly (roof profile included) but there were some alterations required to get the mechanism itself to fit. As Kevin has said he did not think Mk3 fitted correctly, this is what was confusing me while looking at the other threads, so it would be good to know Ian, did you find it was a direct swop (apart from metal panel) Sorry to be a pain about this, but I think it could be a useful thread to collate everyones experiences with these roofs. Dougie

Many Thanks for your answers hopefully this is reflected below now: Options are. 1. Mk3 Golf unit. Appears to be a more reliable unit in terms of the lugs not breaking, straight fit in terms of mechanism and requires Corrado panel to be swopped with Golf glass/metal panel 2. Seat Toledo (Not sure which era/model), as per Golf MK3 3. Passat B3/B4 moonroof, unit itself appears to be as fragile as the Corrado mechanism. But straight fit with no requirement to swap panel other than preference. 4. Skoda Octavia MK1 Estate moonroof as per Passat B3/B4 but with more reliable mechanism. 5. Repair existing mechanism with VW kit and refit (costly and not a cure for fragility in design). Dougie

Thanks David, Well I cant really report on performance as strangely there has been no rain up here over the weekend, (Global warming I s'pose!) I think the aero wipers that were on the arm were shot, but fit wise and sweep appear to be good. I have just put on the new Bosch blades that I had aready fitted so I will let you all know how they perform at speed in the rain. Dougie

Lucky number 7 - sold but 911 in its place

I'm pretty sure the Audi's performance could be improved if you shed some of the weight in the boot region ;-) -
I have just managed to get a hold of 2 wiper arms from a couple of Seat Arosas. Checked them against a ropey looking Lupo arm and they seem to be almost identical but the part number is: 6x2955410 Do you think I have wasted my time and is it the blade (aero) or the wiper arm that is the improvement over the Corrado set up? OPinions would be great before I go wasting my time and money buying new blades to fit these arms. Many thanks Dougie

LWS Design - Carbon or GRP Tailgate.... Finally
corrado wannabe replied to Andrew_LWSDesign's topic in Suppliers Forum
Im just worried about the height mine would sit at the arches without the weight of the tailgate holding it down! ;-) Looks very nice, good luck with your venture Dougie -
Ok so hopefully this will work, the pictures should be in order of; two standard, two uprated loom with standard bulbs and two with uprated loom and uprated phillips white light bulbs. BoraRob, I have to say I have been well impressed with the results on fitting this. Very easy to fit, with clear instructions. I have actually sent James some before and after pictures of my car, as I do not have access to a file sharing site I cannot post them on here, hopefuly he can add them to this thread so you can see the difference. The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Good day on the C on saturday. Replaced alternator belt and power steering belt. Oil change with mobil 1 and VW filter. New OEM fuel filter as well. Dougie -
GLWS mate, if you dont get rid of it, and can be bothered, let me know and I would arrange a pick up for it. Dougie
-
Damn, if this was closer or available for postage (my cost of course) I would bite your hand off for this. Dougie
-
My Mk1 was a 1980, roll forward 14 years to the C and..... Shyte wipers, shyte lights, heavy (but feelsome) steering and you have to wonder what the product development department had been up to all that time apart form improving the heater and the brakes! Wouldnt change the wee car for the world though!
-
Now Now DavidWort, I am not complaining, merely looking to guage opinions on whether or not I require to carry out any remedial work on my vehicle due to its age and mileage. Had you read my post, you will see I too owned a Mk1, so therefore, do know I am born. That said, it is ahuge inconvenience having to manually lift up the handbrake lever. Hence why I drive the Audi 4 days a week. :camp: Dougie

I have to agree Kev, the less intrusive the better. Although arms like big Arnie at parking time may be beneficial. Dougie

Good advice on the tyres pressures as I checked them before I posted and they were slightly low. I was surprised the sticker on the b pillar recommended that the tyre pressures on the 15" wheel were 36 psi. But I bottled it at 34 all round as I think they look like balloons! Might as well change the belt at the same time as the alternator belt while I am poking my nose around that area. I will leave the top mounts until the suspension overhaul takes place in spring next year. Thanks for the input as always lads Dougie
-
Thanks guys, I think it confirms what I thought. Although it has been a few years, it reminded me of my old Mk1 GTi which didnt have power steering! Not that I am complaining, do like the feel of the road through the steering wheel again all part of the appeal of these. Dougie
