oh dear. is that an expensive fix?! cheers ---------- Post added at 3:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:23 PM ---------- from what i can see here http://the-corrado.net/archive/index.php?t-21998.html it looks like a pretty cheap and easy DIY fix (famous last words!) so 3 Q's: - will i need any special tools - about from splitter? - how long can i drive for before this becomes serious? - could it be anything else? thanks for being so helpful mate

brilliant thx. 'after the throttle body' sounds hard to get to ?!

whenever i start a journey the steering on my C seems a little lurchy! this only happens at slow speeds but all of a sudden for a split second it will want to veer left or right, and sometimes the steering will feel very light for a second or to. is it safe to drive and does anyone know whats wrong! thanks for any help

Sorry if this has been answered but iv looked high and low and cant seem to find an answer. basically, my rpm seems to be far to high at idle, 1st and 2nd. this only happened yesterday but i remember this happening years ago with a different car and it appeared to result in a ruined camshaft! i was driving along fine on the dual carriageway - not going particularly fast. then when i came to a stand still my idle was 1500 rpm. i put the clutch down to go into 1st and the rpm nearly reached 2000. once i engaged 1st the rpm went down to 1500 but then without pressing the accelerator the car started to speed up and the revs went to about 1800. this meant i could change to 2nd without pushing the accelerator. once in second, the car sped up again on it own and i could change to 3rd. after changing to 3rd the car seemed to drive normally - although still quite high in the revs. if i stopped again the same thing kept happening? any thoughts? im a bit scared to drive it in case i do it permanent or costly damage! any help muchly appreciated.

'You allow 1 day for people to respond about an obscure alarm before getting impatient? Behave.' - you're absolutely right, kevin. I'll be honest, it was a cheeky bump on my part. I've gone away and had a think. i wont do it again. sorry. im a bit excitable cos i've just got the car. but valid point. however, its the only valid point you make. 'Have you bothered yourself to contact GT alarm directly? They're not hard to find on Google.' - yes i have thanks. but none of the numbers i can find are in service anymore and i thought i would check on here before having to phone italy! and i dont speak italian! so not so 'simples' for me. mildly patronising though. good one. the internet does make people 'lazy' depending on how you define that. but the beauty of the internet and social networks is that it makes it easier to find answers. therefore its not laziness, its efficiency. what is the point of the technical section of the forum if not to find answers and share knowledge? would you advise that if i have a problem with my engine i should speak to the manufacturer and a mechanic before coming to ask on the forum? your post comes across as somewhat pig-headed. ironic really. but then the internet does do that to some people.

every reply i have from you is negative. i dont know wot i did to u but you should probably give me ur car by way of apology. :norty: paranoid! HA! ... seriously though - did someone tell you that? i think people have been saying that about me. r u one of those people? did you steal my meds? WHERE R MY MEDS? i think i live near u :onfire:

Hilarious! found this on yahoo: Engine oils are commonly based on something like a 500 SN paraffinic base oil, and boiling would start at around 300°C, although autoignition would occur above about 400°C. Flash point will be lower, typically around the 280°C mark, although that will not be relevant unless there is a source of ignition present. so looks like you shoulda kept your foot down Supercharged!

I sat in the car for over 10 mins with Loctite - followed the instructions to a T. fell off after 5 mins! nevermind. i'll give it another go ... then head to autoglass! cheers
-
thanks supercharged. weight lifted from mind. i am worried about the suspension. little major has been done to the car from the service history - my fear is that everything will go at once and ill end up in prison for armed robbery. who will drive my corrado then? not my wife! however, nothing on the advisory from MOT 6 moths ago (1500 miles driven since). so fingers crossed. thanks again. great community.

really?! no-one?! the model of the immobiliser is a GT 136 / 142 - has no one else had this? maybe some advice on a better alternative and how to fit might perk some interest. cheers
-
yeah tracking and alignment will def follow soon. last question then: on bumpy/poor roads when driving slowly the steering wheel jerks quite a bit - is that usual? sorry for all the Q's on the forum ... i used to own a fiat so always expect cars to break! thanks billzeebub - most helpful.

Oil temp reads 96c - that cant be good, right? any thoughts on causes and remedies? cheers

My car is purple! NO ITS NOT EMBARRASSING AT ALL! not sure what would look better. i guess its hot water and a library card to remove the strips? on the rear wiper delete (i wouldnt see a benefit from having one currently cos my rear view mirror fell of and i can get a glue good enough to keep it on yet!) how do u go about it without it being obviously missing? so no one votes for keeping it as it is then?

Got my corrado 2 days ago. face hurts from happiness  however, my wife took her first drive in it today and commented that the driving felt heavy. WHAT?! but in hindsight i wonder if it is a little heavy - doesnt feel super PAS ... or is that just age? it does how a slight tendency to move left when hands off but im naively hoping thats tyre pressure! any thoughts ... or how i would go about checking? no one i know has a corrado to compare. which means im the better person!
-
anyone got thoughts on tasteful deletions? basically how to remove trims etc and make the car look more streamlined and classy. bodykits need not reply!!
-
i cant be the only newbie asking this: how do i replace the bulbs in the dash and centre console? i thought they'd be a sticky for this. and: part of me wants to keep the original look of the corrado (cos we'll soon forget how amazing these things are) and part of me likes the "cool" look of LEDs. what r peoples opinions on this? if anything i'd go green. blues and reds remind me of teenage gamer pc's!

Thanks supercharged. would wd40 and grease work well together? surely old fashioned grease would get right in there and wd40 might create a slight barrier to this. how about copper grease ... or is that just stupid?

Hi All, proud new owner of a corrado as of yesterday! lifelong dream acheived. granted its a 16valver but im still over the moon! i have a GT auto Alarm immobiler and the fob is literally on its last legs. is anyone familiar with this? im looking to replace, and i expect reprogram, the current immobiliser but it seems to be discontinued/obsolete. any thoughts or ideas ... im concerned it will stop working soon? any info very much appreciated
-
Thanks very much - most helpful. u guys dont know how chuffed i am to be able to get on here!

Hi, new to the forum. got my purple valver yesterday. long term dream accomplished. woohoo! but 1st and 2nd gears are a bit notchy and car does a tiny lurch after they are engaged. i guess i cant complain too much as its in excellent condition on the whole, 139k on the clock and all for £1500. well i think thats pretty good myself. im presuming this is either the synchros or the clutch? either way to prolong its life i want to change the gearbox oil - i cant see that its ever been changed in the SH. Would i be right in thinking Red Line MT90? and grease up the linkages? Im not sure how much i need to get - 1 litre? also, what thoughts do people have on brand of engine oil? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
