Gaitor problem: Changed gear knob for non OEM advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have just got a gear knob to match my steering wheel, a MOMO race air knob. The combination looks really good. However, I have fitted it, but what should I do with the gaitor? As it is I have'nt done anything with it and it does not attach to the knob, there is a gap it just flaps about and looks really untidy. Anybody come up with some ingeniuos ways of attaching it to the knob? Should I just cut the metal ring on the gaitor and push the leather into the gear knob and tighten the bolts over it? Any advice would be great, no point in reinventing the wheel, or messing it up. Thanks!

Right done a web search and I can't find this Momo collar for VW Corrado that would fit the OEM gaitor anywhere. Any advice/source of this collar would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

easy way - wrap a load of tape around the shaft. works a treat. do it with the knob attached on, push the gaitor ring up as far as it will go and tape till your hearts content :)

Put the knob on as normal.

Lift the base of the gator up so that it's inside out over the gear knob

Cable tie the gator around the bottom of the knob

Put the plastic base back in place

Job done... 8)

Excellent :D , many thanks for that Pablo & Henny, will do that, at least it will look a whole lot neater! Coolrado, suggestion taken onboard, as a longterm solution, I have contacted demon tweeks and will see what they come up with.

Many thanks!!!
