tonytiger 0 Posted December 6, 2004 Need some new front pads this week for my VR6 (hopefully don't need discs) and trying to keep the cost down - but don't want junk either. How do the ATE pads that Eurocarparts sell (part no 101440025) compare with genuine VAG pads? They're about half the price (which seems too cheap), but I've seen a few posts mention that ATE are OE suppliers to VAG. I also noticed that the parts club price on VAG pads is a third off making them £20 vs £15 - so could they be the same? Anybody tried them?
vr6storm 0 Posted December 6, 2004 i have the ATE pads(and power groove discs) on mine and have had them for the past 2+ years.........i can't fault them whatsoever given that they are a good bit cheaper than the VW pads and the power grooves are approx £20 cheaper for a pair than standard VW discs......the only downside is the fact your wheels will get dirty quickly........and ATE is an O/E supplier too
stevemac 0 Posted December 6, 2004 Sorry to upset the apple-cart guy's but ATE don't make brakepads. They're made elsewhere & re-boxed as ATE.. Pagid would be a far better choice, as they do make their own pads & are also OE suppliers.

stevemac 0 Posted December 6, 2004 I'm not saying they're no good, what I'm saying is that they may be made by a different manufacturer than what's available now.
tonytiger 0 Posted December 7, 2004 Thanks for the info. Think I'll stick with VAG this time - but might try Pagid next time round.
