boab 0 Posted December 7, 2004 i think my engine aint running as it should, i was wondering what sort of cost it would be to get it rebuilt! And has anyone done it before in the west of scotland, glasgow area, to recommend a garage. What sort of things get changed to improve it?
h100vw 0 Posted December 7, 2004 Before you haul the engine out, you must have a compression check and leakdown test done. That'll show any weakness in the head or bottom end. I'd think that it may be worth having it checked out and tuned up. For example, you would get no benefit from a full rebuild if the fuel pump was shagged. Red=Fast 0 Posted December 7, 2004 Great point Gavin. Be sure that is what you need to do. A lot of time and effort is involved with rebuilding an engine. I’m doing my complete rebuild of a G60 for around $700 USD. I am re-using the pistons and crank. If you need any help on the rebuild I could give you some pointers.
