ENGINE TEMPERATURE

Recommended Posts

I replaced the Heater Matrix on my 16 2.0i Corrado a couple of months ago and have had problems since...I don't know if its related to the job I did, I don't believe so. Heater works fine. The Engine is racing at approx. 1150 to 1200 r.p.m. once it comes up to normal operating temperature. The Engine Temp. gauge stopped working (began to behave eratically) and evidence clearly showed it was overheating. I also have some coolant loss but despite many checks there is no evidence of coolant loss anywhere in the engine bay. I replaced the Engine Temp. Sensor that feeds the Temp. Gauge and put in a replacement gauge. Gauge works fine now, however Engine continues to idle at 1200 or so rpm once warmed up. Fan seems to work fine. Thermostat and Thermoswitch were replaced approx. 9 months ago. Racing Engine is very embarassing in traffic!!! Any ideas?

Also can somone tell me if the 2.0i 16v Corrado has Bosch Jettronic Fuel injection?

It has KE-motronic. This is a lambda controlled variation of K-jet from the 1800. There is no tickover adjustment but you may find that the closed throttle switch is bad or the cable out of adjustment. The ECU controls the tickover using the ISV and the screw in the TB should be screwed all the way in.

Info is almost non existant on the system, but Bosch specialist should be able to work it or VW.
