Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Had one of those little flip down towing eye caps below the bumper snap on me a while back after I broke down and had a 'spirited' tow home on a solid bar by a deranged mate. I've now got one of the blighters on order from the stealers (14 quid... Robbing gets!) and I'm picking it up on Friday. Thing is, I've had a quick look at how they're fitted on, and it seems to be with 2 inaccessible pop rivets right inside the bumper. Has anyone else fitted one of these, and if so, did it involve taking the whole bumper off? Cheers.
gibber 0 Posted January 12, 2005 They arnt pop rivets, all mine have been melted on in the 2 positions. I would say to do a good job you would have to remove the bumper.
Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Sheeeeeite... I may just glue the fecker in. Is de-mounting the bumper as much of a pain in the hoop as I'm suspecting?
ben16v 0 Posted January 12, 2005 it`s not too bad really, just 4 17mm bolts (i think) undo the wiring for the indicators and fogs and it just slides out. much easier to do if the cars on a ramp
Henny 0 Posted January 12, 2005 benji16v, don't forget all the little bolts which hold the spoiler on... :|

gibber 0 Posted January 12, 2005 All you need to do is drill out the old bit thats left, put the new one in place and plunging a hot soldering iron through it should do the trick.
Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted January 12, 2005 much easier to do if the cars on a ramp Can't put the C on my ramps BECAUSE of the bumper. Stupid thing scrapes, so I'd have to take it off BEFORE driving on! Oh the irony... Cheers though. Think I'll do a proper job by by de-bumpering, if it's only a few bolts. gibber 0 Posted January 12, 2005 A couple of bits off wood half way up the ramps to make um longer works for me, or jack it up and put it on stands or slide the ramps under. Helps only round the corner if you need it, from sunnier Wigan!
Louie Lungbubble 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Helps only round the corner if you need it, from sunnier Wigan! Heh heh, Cheers Gibber. TBH I can actually get the car up my ramps. Takes a bit of fannying round with bricks and wood, like you suggested, but I can get it there. Funnilly enough though mate, I spend more time up your neck of the woods than I do in Skem. My bird lives near the Heinz factory. Whereabouts in Wigan are you? Have never spotted either of your cars knocking around.
