replace the cable and rubber gromit that goes into the pedal if the the pedal is stiff the gromit stretches and the cable will pop out all the time

for what they cost just replace it, but like someone said earlier you could try a bit of oil down the sheath of the cable to free it up just to see if that is your prob, WD would free the cable up but it wouldnt solve your problem for long as like someone said earlier its not a lubricant, you could try some chain wax for motorcycles if you know anyone whos in to bikes that stuff has a million and one uses

If its stiff, the chances are the inner cable has broken a couple of strands which are catching on the sheath. Lubricating it won't help as it'll break anyway. Better to replace it, much cheaper than calling out a breakdown lorry.

don't forget to buy the rubber grommet that goes into the throttle pedal though! If you throttle has become stiff, this will have knackered the grommet and your cable could become disconnected from the pedal while you're driving.... :|

(yes, that's the bitter sound of a voice of experience.... )

agree with what has been said; definately replace the cable.

has this on my 16v, i hadn't noticed how stiff it had become. got the whole cable replaced for about £35 inc parts.

the old one had started to come apart inside, and was catching - in a pretty poor state
