Henny 0 Posted January 22, 2005 the gear knob on all VW MKII Golfs (except automatics) just unscrews. If it's an aftermarket Momo knob you're trying to get off, you'll probably find that the bottom shiney bit unscrews and drops down the shaft and there's 3 allen keys inside which hold it onto the shift lever... 8) The horn one is quite easy. Your buttons aren't wired in properly. There's either a wire missing from the buttons to the boss, or there's a little metal contact on the edge of the horn push (depending on design) which MUST make contact with the boss. The way it should work is that the wire in the steering column should connect onto the switches, then there's either another wire or a piece of metal which connects to the boss to ground it. When you press the button, it simply makes the circuit and sounds the horns... 8)
JT 0 Posted January 22, 2005 that sounds like the problem there are two connections coming off the back of the wheel but they are both exactly the same and go to both the buttons, so one shud go to the connection and one shud connect onto the boss i suppose, as fo the gear knob i've tried all of the above but will give it one more go, thanks very much for your help tho, gotta love this forum.
