Removing early Gauges

Hope someone can help, i am in the middle of removing my dash for the heater matrix replacement and I have the dash loose.

I now need to remove the Gauges but there is a lead with a white connector located behing the Speedo dial, and I cannot work out how to disconnect it. there is little play so I can pull it out far enough to see whats holding it in place.

Has anyone any advice???

is that the one with just a single pipe connected to it? theres one thats actually screwed in, with 2 small philips screws - they're quite fiddley to get out... those really cheap screwdrivers that you get in christmas crackers actually come in handy for this job :wink:

It had a connector to the bottom left hand side which i have already disconnected, but the more central one has like a round collar I am wondering if that needs unscrewed or something. If i do need some of those screwdrivers i got some just this christmas... hope they havent been thrown out yet :D

You've got the mechanical milage counter haven't you? (only one LCD screen on the clocks)

 

The cable you're on about is the speedo cable. There should be a part of the white connector which has ridges on it (you should be able to turn the white connector by hand until you find the bit with ridges on it.) SQUEEZE this ridged bit HARD and pull straight back from the clocks and the cable will come off. It's got a locking clip on it and the bit with ridges is the release mechanism... ;) 8)
