gibber 0 Posted February 4, 2005 I have an insurance policy with Adrain Flux, all full declared and legit, with an agreed valuation of 15 grand, but I need to get an independant valuation done for it again this year but I dont know any one that will do it. Dubsport say they dont do them no more. Any ideas folks? Im in the Northwest.
Henny 0 Posted February 4, 2005 I'm in the same boat (although not for 15K! ) so I'm interested in this one too... 8)
gibber 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Is there any local companys that come on here? I was amazed they agreed to 15K, its good to know that I can smack the front end and damage the charger and it will all get replaced!
Henny 0 Posted February 4, 2005 IF you can get someone impartial to verify the claimed value... That's where my agreed value on J-DUB went pear shaped...
Blue_Joe 0 Posted February 4, 2005 I need an independant valuation also
20valver 0 Posted February 4, 2005 I've just got an agreed evaluation off Adrian Flux for £9000. I had to give them 6 photos, fill out a load of forms and give them a purchase reciept. It took a while for them to process but I now have a document stating the agreed value of the car as £9000. This way of doing it is the alternative to getting an independant specialist to give an evaluation.
G-Lader 0 Posted February 4, 2005 15k!!!! even with an agreed valuation the Insurance company would not pay a figure like that out in the event of a claim...........I think an agreed valuation should reflect what the vehicle is worth to sell not the total cost of all the bits youve ever bought for it.........imo In fact if you look at the small print on agreed valuation if in event of an accident the assesor thinks the valuation was a complete load of rubbish they can agust the pay-out IIRC
stevemac 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Pay me 1k each & I'll carry out an independant valuation of your cars ..
gibber 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Even after all the all the recipts and photos have been sent, and you have filled out that 12 page form, you still need the valuation. My valuation was based on the price all the bits would cost now, and now what I payed for them, and not for labour. So effectively to replace the car. I dont think it should be valued at the price you would sell it for. Like I said I asked if I crash the car a whote off the right corner, inc alloy ,susp, and charger, they agreed that it would be replaced, you would be talking about 6-7 grands worth there at a body shop. stevemac if you will do that from work on ya works letterhead I pill pay you a few hundred! Hopefully I never want to find out if they will pay out, but for the time being I fell safe that it is fully covered!
Jimjam 0 Posted February 5, 2005 I dont think it should be valued at the price you would sell it for. Why not? The price you would sell it for is, effectively, the price you could replace it for.
gibber 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Sorry let me put it another way, there is a price I would sell it for, then there is a price that its is worth to another buyer.
stevemac 0 Posted February 5, 2005 gibber_2k, There is a company who I used to deal with called "Northern Assessors". They specialise in insurance valuations & many insurance companies use them to assess the value of accident damage. Most vehicle body repair shops will have details of either this company or a similar one.
Jimjam 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Sorry let me put it another way, there is a price I would sell it for, then there is a price that its is worth to another buyer. I can see your point, but it's the insurance company's job to quantify the financial loss to you. Any sentimental value is irrelevant from an insurance company's point of view. If, heaven forbid, you were to write your car off, the financial loss to you would be the price you would have got, were you to sell it.
gibber 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Im not talking sentimental value, okay then. Imagine a standard corrado storm, worth 5K. A guy spends 1K on spraying it up sky blue with pink dots, re-sale on that car has not just dropped, but its insurance value should still be 5K in my opinion. stevemac 0 Posted February 5, 2005 IMO - if an insurance company "agree" a value for the car, they increase the insurance premium that needs to be paid. Having accepted this extra money, they cannot then go back on their word & re-value it differently - for example, after an accident or theft. What's needed from the insurance company is a document stating their agreed value. This document will then be presentable as evidence, should it be required. gibber 0 Posted February 7, 2005 I got all that Steve, on my policy is states agreed value 15,000! But I remember they saying they need this valuation, so I was trying to play the game so to speek. I might just get my local garage to do one for me, the insurance company arnt going to know hat they arnt a specailist.
stevemac 0 Posted February 7, 2005 I'd check with your insurance - if the valuation doesn't come from an authorised valuation company, recognised by your insurance company - it's likely to be a waste of paper.
gibber 0 Posted February 8, 2005 No thats not what they said, it has to come from a specialist garage that has not done work on the car!
h100vw 0 Posted February 8, 2005 Have you fellas not thought of Awesome. Jim did one for me years ago on a MK1 I had. That was for HIC as they are now. Only 15mins from Wigan. I'll give anyone an introduction. If I remember I'll ask Jim next time I see him. Gavin
Henny 0 Posted February 8, 2005 ooh, I'd not thought of Jim... Not spoken to him in a while, I'll have to make contact and see if he'll do it once I get all the goodies over from J-DUB... 8)

gibber 0 Posted February 10, 2005 Just spoke to Awesome who appologised, they said they usually would do them, they did one for a mk1 golf at 16 grand hehe But at the moment they are doing a move so are a bit too busy pulling thier hair out. They said use any VW garage that has a nice letter head, they have never had one questioned! They also said to try Just VW's
gibber 0 Posted February 14, 2005 For all you guts in the same boat as me, I have found someone. Wigan VW and Audi, other wise know as Wigan Beetle Centre said that he does them. He said the only problem is that he does know much about corrados so he would just have to agree with what I told him, he also said value is in the eye of the beholder anyway. I asked how much such a service would cost, and he said I will need your car for 2 hours and it will cost 40 quid.
A20 LEE 0 Posted February 14, 2005 Just trying to get mine on agreed value with brentacre. They really take the piss. First he said the car needs one off bodymods to qualify, CHECK. Car needs a custom interior to qualify, CHECK. Now he's struggling  Basically he thinks my cars worth £7K,  So i came to the conclusion that a brentacre modified policy is worthless, i'd be better going tpft and breaking the car if i crashed it.
