Rufio16v 0 Posted February 23, 2005 hi dudes and dudettes, any ideas sometimes when i put the key in the ignition, and turn it its just clicks, doesnt start. but sometimes it does. 1989 1.8 16v plus(no ecu model) any ideas? ive been told starter motor or battery. cheers Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Rufio16v 0 Posted February 24, 2005 ive put a new battery in, now and it still clicks and doesnt always start. all the electrics work lights etc. and the badges and the v5 say 16v plus on them. i entirely know what this means, it hasnt got an ecu or electric windows Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Henny 0 Posted February 25, 2005 check the earth contacts from the battery onto the chassis and engine/gearbox. If this is all green or has a white powder on it, you could do with replacing it. It could also be that your starter is jamming. You'd need to take it off and check it to make sure that the gear that drives the flywheel can move up and down the shaft freely as the gear is turned by hand.
