dig776 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Hi! any advice appreciated Had day off today and because coolant fan was making funny noise decided to replace it. It had obviously not been done for a while cos the bolts in the plastic cover above the fan and rediator had badly rusted. Replaced fan but had to cut through the cover bolts with hacksaw to get access to fan. Now cannot get the cover back on. Do I really need to get another? or can I do without one? :?:
potatonet 0 Posted March 4, 2005 arent there 3 bolts/ screws? just use 2 of them? you dont need it it just prevents stuff from hitting the fan, the neato foam in your engine compartment.
dig776 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Thanks. Yep three bolts but they had all rusted through so had to hacksaw them all off. Couldn't get to the bolt without sawing the plastic surrounding the bolt. If the only real concern is the sound proofing foam then won't bother replacing the cover. Am a little anxious about the fan as the last time I had one go it caused the head gasket to go! which set me back £350!!! cheers
potatonet 0 Posted March 5, 2005 you see thats when you do it yourself, like me cost me 130 US plus fixing the machine shops computer.
