Is this a good price??

Recommended Posts

Hi guys it looks like I am but a week- 2 weeks away from getting my Corrado.

I posted a few weeks ago about it's head problem, and the fact it had been left for a year and a half standing. Since then the current owners (a friend of the family) told us he paid over a grand to have it all fixed in a VW-Audi dealer at about 96,000 miles (he has the reciept!!!!)

The car is a 95 M 2l valver, 110,000 on the clock, fVWsh, vr6 alloys, sunroof, few other bits and bobs. It is being MOTed today and is going to fail due to the front disks being corroded which, they are going to replaced.

They also put 6 months tax on it,

would £4000 be a fair price???

Corrado values vary so much at the mo, You see untidy 16v's in trader for £1200(cheap) then at the other end you can get late vr6's £9000(overpriced)

Have a look on autotrader.co.uk and gauage the value, if its been looked after then expect to pay a bit more. :D

£4000 is potentially a little high.. I would try knock a few hundred quid off.

I px'd my Corrado in with Citroen at £2,800 and it later went on to sell for £4000 at a local dealers.. that was a 1994/L in generally very good condition, and had 87,000 miles on it. Admittedly it didn't have a FVWSH but it did have a load of reciepts for last year alone adding up to £2000.

very much doubt its got VR6 alloys on it as the 2.0 16v and all other Corrado's(apart from VR6's)have the 4-stud bolt pattern..........

as for price.....fair enough its had a lot spent on it but that was 14k miles and well over a year ago......but as its been sitting for approx a year or so not turning a wheel......there will be other things that could be soon away to give up the ghost.........also i'm assuming its also had a visit to a VW dealer since the head work being done at 96k.........if not then i would think its been neglected a bit if its sitting on 110k now thats about 4k miles over the service interval and like most other performance cars they should really have had at least an oil and filter changed in between services too......price-wise i wouldn't want to pay more than £3.5k for it providing the body/paint and interior haven't/aren't showing signs of being laid up for the length of time it has.......put it like this if he tries to p/ex it he'll be given bottom book value which could well be as low as £2-2.5k.....just my 2pence worth

I agree... £3,300 tops if all seems fine - but i wouldn't even take it off the drive without an oil change if its been sitting that long!!

arg we offered £3500 Initially as that was the price I thought was best, they really are looking for 4 tho :-(.

They look alot like the vr6 alloys and are VW alloys but not the standard ones, they paid 600 squid to get another set for some reason.

Before they moved it they changed the filter and oil, and they have done that every half service to.

Not sure of it's last service, going to go and see it next weekend.

Well.. the main rule about buying a car is that you can walk away if you are not 100% happy with the deal. The Corrado is by no means a common car, but there are always plenty out there to buy.. take your time and buy the right one for you. Don't make the mistake that I did and jump in and buy the first one, even though you were not completely sure about the deal.

£4000 is definately very steep given the uncertain history of this car.. if they are not willing to bargain take your money elsewhere.. the nugget yellow G60 which is for sale on this forum sounds like a sweeter deal to me :)

I can put up some reference images of the standard Corrado wheels if you need as well...
