A20 LEE 0 Posted April 17, 2005 Just connecting mine up, a voodoo 1.2F with digital readout. Came with no instructions, remember a few year ago my brother fitted a basic cap to readout or pcd and that needed a resistor between power and the + on the cap on the first charge. Just wondering if i can run mine straight away or need to get a resistor. Its secondhand so will have been powered up before.
coolrado 0 Posted April 17, 2005 if it has the display and circuit board on top there is usually a resistor built in to them mine certaily does
A20 LEE 0 Posted April 17, 2005 does it have the display and circuit board on top? as i think there is a resistor built in to most with a display on them mine certaily does yes it does, so you just connected it and bingo?

A20 LEE 0 Posted April 17, 2005 Are your displays on permanently?
NG 0 Posted April 17, 2005 U should ALWAYS use a resistor for the 1st charge !!!

coolrado 0 Posted April 17, 2005 the display on mine only turns on when it detects a surge and auto powers off when there has been no activity for a few minutes. and it said there was no need for a resistor on the first charge with mine but i dont know about others
bcstudent 0 Posted April 17, 2005 I believe the display on mine only comes on when the system demand is greater than the battery can supply. As coolrado says, it powers off shortly after the demand had dropped. There was no requirement for a resistor when connecting my cap.
