lukeage 0 Posted September 4, 2005 Hi Have a couple of small areas of rust under the battery on the battery shelf (persume it's called a shelf). Just got hold of a small pot of hammerite kurust (rust treatment). Has anyone tried this stuff out yet? Afterwardds i plan to use a touch up paint to seal over the area's. coolrado 0 Posted September 4, 2005 its only any good for tiny amounts of rust and only then if the rusted area is totally dry, rust absorbs a lot of moisture and will just get worse if kurust is put on top of it. the only proper way to permanently get rid of rust is to cut it or grind it back to bare metal and then prime and paint it. RW1 0 Posted September 4, 2005 Agree Coolrado, back to metal as best you can and then treat. Have used it this way and 12 years on the rust hasn't returned on some of my repairs.
