rmn 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Who likes the early ones? I must say i am not a big fan, but they look well on some cars. I much prefer the later type with the red model badge(16v, G60 early VR6) Not really a fan of badgeless or the reiger one? just friday ramblings i suppose
Supercharged 2 Posted September 9, 2005 Yeah - never liked the early one until the othe day when I saw a Yellow one in Germany with an Early grill (unpainted) - looked really good but not sure why...
rmn 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Thats it, some cars just look right with it! Both my cars have the late style, one with a silver and one with a black vw badge
gsbellew 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Depends on the car itself Richard, early corrado's just seem to look wrong with the later grille. Thomas's G60 had the late one when he got it first, it was stolen one night while we were in work, only one we could get easily was an early one and it seemed to sit with the lines a lot better, but it had the early bonnet bumper and fogs. I guess VW were just trying to tie the Corrado into the VW family style at the time (Vento got rear lights similar to the C, and the passat front went similar to the C too around 93), I just don't think the bulged bonnet and flusher lights did a lot for the Corrados looks, I'm sure plenty will disagree though. rmn 0 Posted September 9, 2005 different strokes i suppose i just feel the early ones a bit fussy.... plus i rekon the late one gives better air flow too
gsbellew 0 Posted September 9, 2005 different strokes i suppose i just feel the early ones a bit fussy.... plus i rekon the late one gives better air flow too Air flow would be debatable Richard, The open (exposed) surface area of the early grille is very similar to that of the later one so the radiator would be getting as much air anyway, also it could be argued that its a straighter path for the air through the early one so there would be less turbulance and hence a better cooling effect :-P
