Brando 0 Posted August 2, 2003 As the topic says cheers guys, bit of a newbie with a 2l 16v M reg and it's still got it's original fuel filter. How best do I go about it?? Anything to watch out for?? Any easy ways to do it?? Tools needed?? Cheers in advance, Olly
stevemac 0 Posted August 2, 2003 The only info I've got is for a G60 - maybe similar. Use new jublee clips - usually either size "000" or "00". Plug or clamp the fuel feed pipe - will leak fuel. Don't smoke while doing job. Use plenty of WD40 to prevent any screws from snapping while your undoing them. Bare minimum of tools will be a pair of molegrips for clamping fuel feed pipe - not too tightly. Pair of pliers - maybe needed to remove old hoseclips. Flat screwdriver - for easing fuel pipes away from old filter. Phillips screwdriver - for tightening new jubilee clips. Use steel jubilee clips - do not use cheap & nasty alloy ones !! Joe M 0 Posted August 2, 2003 Its not too bad a job to be honest, heres what I done. 1. Jack drivers side of car up. 2. Fuel filter is easily accessed, its just in front of the back wheel. 3. Try to loosen the bolts at either side, while holding the fuel filter solid. 4. Fail to hold the fuel filter solid snapping the rusty clips that hold it in place. 5. Use a bit more force and the bolts loosen with the fuel that was in the lines then running down your arm and all the way down your back. (Once the lines are empty, the fuel stops. It doesnt keep flowing.) 6. Fuel filter now falls off due to the above snapped clips. 7. Put new filter in place securely with cable ties. 8. Bolt pipes back up. 9. Try to start car but find that as soon as the ignition is on and the fuel system pressurizes that one of the hoses has torn and is pi**ing fuel everywhere. 10. Order new fuel line at a reasonable £23 and wait 2 days. 11. Reassemble and enjoy your Corrado. :?

stevemac 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Quick Q stevemac - where did u get that diagram from?? and does a haynes manual exist for the C (i've had a quick look in Wankfords but couldn't find one) The only manual that I know is available is called a "Bentley Manual". Mine is on CDrom - expensive at approx £80 but can save a few garage bills. It mainly deals with the G60 & VR6 models which were exported to the USA. Brando 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Got one from wankfords this morning and fitted it semi-no probs. It leaked when I used the washers that came with it. On inspection the washers from the old one where a much better fit - so I stuck the old washers back on and hey presto all good. The car defo seems to feel a bit better to, tiny bit more resposive (may be), but definetly smoother.
