StormVR6 0 Posted September 17, 2005 I have just got out of my brother-in-laws' brand spanking new, top of the range X5, yes it's got electric everything, a TV in the dash, comfort heating this, remote controlled that and it's bloody boring! I could see it was perfectly suited for long distance travelling but I went to the Lake District a few years ago, about 300 miles from where I live, and I enjoyed the journey in my C. Now I don't doubt that I would be more comfortable in the X5, I could watch Sky Sports and fiddle with the plethora of bulls*it gimmicks but I would inevitably be bored! I don't know why I feel this way about many new cars, but to me a lot of them are like driving around in a house; total comfort, no noise, cosy surrounds, entertainment but ultimately not a real car. More of a travelling bedsit than a exciting machine. Just my opinion, it may be a great car to some but I can't see what all the fuss is about.
