R1-Jay 0 Posted September 26, 2005 When i put the heater on, its really musty smelling due to the fact it was off the road for 18months. Anyone know where the pollen cabin filter is so that i can change that. Is it easy to get to?
corradovr6sc 0 Posted September 26, 2005 Not sure how to change it but I've got a new pollen filter which might fit your car if you can give me a part number?

R1-Jay 0 Posted September 26, 2005 yep, its for the 1990 1.8 16v when you switch the fan on, its really musty smelling, like my mk3 golf was before i found the original pollen filter in it!!! maybe i'll just have to keep it running for a while, it goes back on the road this weekend
RW1 0 Posted September 26, 2005 No pollen filter on UK standard C. Could be retro fitted at the time with Mk2 Golf filter housing (now unavailable). If there is a filter, the most likely place is in the passenger side scuttle area above the air fan for the cabin. If a heater isn't used for a while it can cause smells but they should "burn off" after a short while (30 minutes) whne they engine has reached normal water temperature. Are you sure it's the heater and not a damp carpet up the front end of the car in the forward footwells? .
NickRStorm 0 Posted September 26, 2005 It'll just be mouldy old leaves. Remove the cover & make sure you get it all out - a vacuum cleaner is good if the missus doesn't spot you doing it :)
