CazzaVR 0 Posted August 7, 2003 Turns out my car was serviced by the previous owner by VW near my parent's house. Paid them a visit today to see if they could print off the old service records and they refused, saying it was a breach of customer confidentiality! :? I could understand this if I wasn't the registered owner, but as I am the owner I don't see the problem. Anyone else had similar problems? Really want to see what was done to the car before I bought it- I've got the fully stamped service book and a few reciepts, but no service printouts :( Cheers
vr6storm 0 Posted August 7, 2003 phone VW's customer care and see if they can do anything or try the VW-dealer again and ask to speak to the service manager and see if they can get some copy invoices(minus the customer's name but showing reg no or chassis number).........they might be ok with it if you contact the previous owner and see if he/she will be able to get copies themselves i managed to get copy invoices from the servicing dealer of my storm which was sloanes of edinburgh so it is possible

Supercharged 2 Posted August 7, 2003 Hmm, When I got my car, nearly all the receipts were there but it had got a replacement service book which was all stamped up etc - Just to check I got my dealer to print me off the service list which just includes services and dates, it also tells you where they were done and weather it was a minor of major service, also logs any other incidents dealt with by VW like breakdowns and tells you the cause... mine ran out of petrol twice and the other time the fault was recorded as a rear wiper motor failure??? Anyways you should be able to get something out of them but when my mum got her Mk3 Golf from the dealer with one previuos owner, the service history was there but no receipts, even tho ther car had only done 47k it would be useful to see what had been done and looks good when you come to sell the car but they said they did not have them and could not provide them?, I did have the one previuos owners address as he was very local and gave him a call, he did keep them and had passed them to VW when he traded his car in... The only way around your problem is to get written permission from the previous owner for the garage to release this information. Previous owner's address should be on the reg document. Sorry m8 but that's how it is.
