Rallye engines

Recommended Posts

Hi

Noticed someone is selling a complete Rallye engine on dubforce, I was wondering how many (if any) people have a Corrado using a Rallye engine and lader?

Is this as plug and play as a Rado G60 conversion - I imagine there would be differences coz of LHD? Is is possible? Are any of the Corrado bits and bobs interchangeable, or does it get messy with driveshafts etc

All in the name of research for plans for next year!

Different bore, different head studs and different size bolts for the bell housing.

Externally the same so no problem fitting a complete rallye engine except you will need the bell housing bolts from the rallye.

yup, it's a smaller bore, but internally the crank and con-rods are the same and externally all other ancilleries are the same... 8)

Both PG and 1H blocks can be bored out to a max of 83mm to make it 1.9 or you can rebore the 1H to take the PG pistons, although you're not really going to notice much difference from the 20odd CCs that you'll gain doing that...

My 1940cc engine's built around a 1H block due to my original PG block being dead...

As Geo, says, it uses different head bolts (£8 each x10!) and a couple of the bolts which hold the gearbox are larger because the rallye had a syncro box and so needed more meat on the mounting bolts...

If you're thinking of doing a swap, then using a rallye engine will be the same as using a Corrado G60 engine... the only difference will be a few wires around the gearbox area which connect up the reversing light switch to the gearbox ECU to disable the rear wheel drive when reversing... ;)

AFAIK, the downpipe is the same...
