Premium IV head unit in a 94 Corrado VR6

Recommended Posts

Installed a Premium IV(Clarion) head unit, cd changer w/cable from a 99 Jetta in my 94 VR6 Corrado and the radio will not turn on. I can hear the cd changer turning on but nothing on the radio. Checked fuses, switched the radio back to the Jetta and powers on.

Can't find anything on the Bentley manuals, both Corrado and Jetta.

I will appreciate any help.

pd. both cars are US models.

Ok, So no power to the Head Unit in the Corrado...

First off, did you take an existing stereo out of the corrado to make room for the new one? - if so, did it work?

As for power there are 2 feeds, a Perminent Live and a switched live (red and Yellow cables on the look) - have a look at these first and check for the 12V with the ignition.

If you can't find a fault you really need to compare the wiring between the 2 cars with a meter...

Yes, I took the factory radio(premium II) out and upgraded with the one from the Jetta. Though that only was plug and listen but I guess I will have to do some work with the meter.

thanks
