Cold weather = whining blower motor

My 1st '90 G60 is developing a nasty whine on cold mornings. When I defrost/demist the window The car has to be very very very well warmed up (like until spring arrives) before I can use the blower at any setting 1-4.

 

After the car is warmed to the blowers's liking, It is okay until I turn hard left and the whine returns like a banshee! I have to wait until I am no longer turning and turn off the motor and turn it back on again to get rid of the shrill.

 

I am selling the car because I bought my new toy - another '90 G60. I need to figure this out, but I now have time as my 1st G60 was tagged by a delivery truck in my work's parking area two days ago.

Any ideas? I have assumed it would be bearings, but I wouldn't know where to start to fix them.

take it out and check the bearings

Anyone tried fiting a motor from a later car? Mine does the same so i'm going to start looking for a replacement from a later car to slot into the corrado blower.

They are all the same for Corrado's except A/C models... new ones are about £50 plus vat...

 

You can change the brushes easily enough but I've not worked out how to remove the bearings... I'd just grease them as if they are bad enough to need replacement then i'd say it was uneconomical to repair...
