quicksilver 0 Posted November 14, 2005 I was thinking about re-bushing my front suspension myself but now I've just found out that the rear axle bushes need doing too. I'm thinking of throwing the towel in and opening the chequebook, so can anyone recommend a VW specialist near Maidenhead? I live in Burnham so the closer to Burnham the better. Thanks

NickRStorm 0 Posted November 18, 2005 I have used Martin Adams in Bourne End for years - he's a good bloke & has always kept all my VW's in tip-top shape. Tell him Nick the VW nut sent you! 01628 850000
quicksilver 0 Posted November 18, 2005 That's good I'll have to pop in and see how much they'll think it will cost. Thanks for the info. I'm going for the standard bushes because while I've heard good things about the uprated bushes I want to retain a bit of compliance in the ride and it's harsh enough as things are already if you know what I mean. Standard is good for the rear - he did my C's rear bushes earlier this year & it made a huge difference to the handling. The problem he ran into with mine was that all the brake pipes were siezed solid in the bias valve & he wound up making all new brake lines
quicksilver 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Well it's good that he's familiar with the pitfalls of the job - How much did it cost to have the rear bushes done by the way?
NickRStorm 0 Posted November 18, 2005 Ah, that I couldn't tell you as we have a barter system going - I do his IT & he does my 3 VR6's :) His labour rate is cheap tho' @ £30/hr IIRC
quicksilver 0 Posted November 18, 2005 His labour rate is cheap tho' @ £30/hr IIRC That's good news - VW wanted £550 to do the job
