Ronan 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Right, I know Riley has a mk1 on here but I was wondering if anyone else did? My girlfriend has a 1.1 Mk1 and it is pissing water through the driver's door seal, and apparently they are obsolete (I will check on ETKA in a minute...). So, has anyone got any advice on how to seal it up, I have considered silicone but she's not keen on the idea - anyone know of one being broken or has one of these laying about for a 3 door? ANy help would be much appeciado! Thanks

dcuk 0 Posted November 14, 2005 Yeah, just noticed your post on there. The only place to go if you have a Mk1 IMO. :)
Blair 0 Posted November 16, 2005 I assume you're talking about the plastic inner door liner? Because that's the seal you need to sort. You can make your own out of thick plastic sheeting. I used some decent double-sided tape (clean the door down with a de-greaser first), stuck the sheeting on, trimmed the edges to fit and holes for the window winder etc. Worked a treat :) Prior to that the rear footwell was like a cold foot spa... No, I meant the rubber seal around the door, that essentially makes it airtight and watertight, it runs all the way round the door but is actually on the door not on the frame, I will take the doorcard off and check that sheeting as well though. Blair 0 Posted November 16, 2005 Ah OK, gotcha. Have you tried GPC for the rubber?
Ronan 0 Posted November 16, 2005 I think theyre about 70 quid new and we don't want to pay that much for one, so looking for a used one.
Blair 0 Posted November 16, 2005 Hmmm....I used to have a used one but I think I threw it out (I sold my Mk1 nearly 7 years ago!). It might be lurking somewhere, I'll have a look - but don't hold your breath!
