Changing the door lock - please help!

Recommended Posts

Im trying to figure out how to change out the door lock for my drivers side. Someone tried to brake into my C and pulled the handle off, but the lock still in tact. I purchased a used handle from a junk yard and now I need to know how to swap the locks out. If anyone has any information please help! We were going to try and look at it tonight, but well see how far we get.

Any help much appreciated!

Okay here we go:

1. take driver door panel off disconnecting all connecters for windows and mirrors dont forget there may be a screw hidden under the speaker cover.

2. undo electrical connection for door handle (half way up handel end of door)

3. Remove door handle by gently removing rear of handel and sliding forward to remove front part of handle.

4. Put key in lock (if you dont do this your tumbler will fall apart when you remove it)

5. Remove the C clip with small screwdriver ( dont loose it! )

6. Tumbler can now be removed

7. Put back together and grease everything there you go! :D

PS where is this scrap yard where there is a Corrado

7.

When I did mine, I didn't put the key in the tumbler.

Didn't fall apart though.

Thanks Woody,

I didnt have the key for the replacement lock and the tumbler was broken. Took it to a locksmith and he popped it out for me. Glad to see theres still some nice guys out there that will help a girl and not screw them over!! :D

I actually found a few junkyards on the East Coast that have parts and theres one local here where I live if anybody needs any information.

Thanks everybody!
