dig776 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Hello. Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong section as it relates to a Renault Megane. Secondly. Any help would be appreciated :) A friend of mine has a Ren Megane coupe 1.6 2002 care fsh 17k on the clock. She recently took it to the dealers as the coolant warning light kept flashing. They have come back to her and have said that the oxygen centre, four coils and the front disks need changing. They seem to think that the coils can be done by renault but the oxygen centre and disks she will need to pay for. Does this sound a bit sus to anyone? Not sure what the coils are but assume they are somthing do to with starting rather than coolant? Obviously the disks are down to wear and tear (in spite of a fresh MOT being given in July 05)

Blown 0 Posted November 28, 2005 My old man has an X-reg Laguna and the coils all had to be replaced on his-Apparently they are a known failing on Renaults, but for some reason only three were done under warranty. The disc problem sounds a bit suss-but again the Laguna has just had new ones fitted at 60,000 miles and the dealer reckoned that this was normal wear for Renault discs,so I would take the car to another dealer or a specialist and get them to check the discs. Hope this helps.
dig776 0 Posted November 28, 2005 Wrong section? Wrong flippin' forum altogether Yeah I did think twice before posting :) Thanks Blown, you have reinforced what I thought. Will advise her to only let renault do the work that is under warranty and take it to a trusted garage to check the disks out. 60000 sounds a lot more reasonable. She should have got a rado :)
