ABS not working

Recommended Posts

HI all. :)

A few months back my nearside CV decided to explode on me whilst driving (a bit) fast. When I stripped the bits apart and fitted the new one, I noticed that in the exploding process it had taken most of the abs sensor with it.

The pins were still there, and the lead was fine. I simply pushed the lead back onto the pins and the ABS worked fine.

About a month later the ABS light came back on, and the ABS does not work.

Do you think that the sensor needs replacing? As its getting a bit slippy out there now

The sensor connections are a bit sensitive to moisture. Damaged casing won't help!

Front sensors are about £30 from GSF...

If the ABS light is on all the time then most likely the sensor is dead - unplug both fronts at the top of the suspension turrets and measure resistance across the plug this should confirm the one you suspect is duff...

If your not sure or it doesn't fix it, you'll need to hook the car up to VAGCOM to locate the fault.
