Tempest 0 Posted December 8, 2005 And what was the problem with the lader? Did they actually confiscate it?!? No, as I was clever enough to make my mate do a U-turn on his way home to come and pick up the Lader again . We'll have to see, how we're gonna get the Lader across to me now, probably at Roadstar, when both of us will have proper cars with us again, rather than airplanes and accompanying security staff  The problem with the Lader was that it was wrapped in an oily rag, which they felt was too flammable and hence wouldn't allow it on board. Well they just felt the whole thing was too flammable, as they did not distinguish between the rag and the Lader. When I told them what it was "It's a G-Lader!" I justy got blank stares  I then added, "A bit like a turbocharger!", slightly less blank stares   Tempest
Jim 2 Posted December 8, 2005 Doh! :( Was that the fabled hungary-lader you were bringing back across mate? :)
Blair 0 Posted December 8, 2005 Oh - so it was check-in, rather than customs? Thought it a bit odd, since we don't officially have customs between here and Germany any more :) But then..picture the scene. Man tries to board plane carrying large metallic lump wrapped in oily rag. It all makes a bit more sense now ;)
Tempest 0 Posted December 8, 2005 Was that the fabled hungary-lader you were bringing back across mate Yes the one Dirk should have put into his Rado instead of the new one he bought off ebay, and which went pop. This Hungary lader (Zoran et al) is reliable, even has undergone the RS treatment, polished outer casing, 70 mm pulley to go with it hmmmm .... The guy Dirk sold his Rado to didn't want it, as he's doing a turbo-conversion, so out it came again (was in Dirk's Rado just for the RR day beginning of October, where it delivered very nice boost indeed). Oh - so it was check-in, rather than customs? Yes, sorry, my mistake, quick typo whilst at work again, stress as usual. But then..picture the scene. Man tries to board plane carrying large metallic lump wrapped in oily rag. Can't see the problem. Also had a 70 mm pulley in there with 3 sets of smoked indicators for Mk2 Roccos (group buy time again). In the past I've already taken various bits backwards and forwards like that, but admittedly never a G-Lader in an oily rag  Tempest
