thanks mate, I will have a scour around over the coming week or so for a passat one, but if I cant find one or they want big ££ for them I will give you a shout, what psi you hoping to hit ?

Darren, I am going to cancel my order with forge motorsport because they wont have the color I want or the 135 degree in 76mm for a while.

 

when can make I an order for the 3 parts that I talked to you about, for reference they were:

135 degree 76mm black hose (let me know what colors you have)

45 degree 76mm hose

76 to 60mm 90 degree reducing elbow.

and another question for everyone, darren made me think about how to cool down the air, well I decided FMIC at first but would liquid to air intercooler be better being that thats how mercedes did it? and besides I can add Ice and alcohol to it.

 

since I am running approx 26 psi would the liquid to air intercooler cause enough cooling to cause condensation of water in the air and therefore make my own sort of weak weak aquamist system? or do I need my own aquamist system?

In my opinion, running a front-mount intercooler is far better idea, cleaner engine bay, efficient when in motion which is what your car will be doing 90 % of the time anyway, less hassle to install as no pre-rad or messy piping to sort. I would use this in combination with a good water-injection system i.e a progressive and mappable one such as the Aquamist 2d system.

looks like I am looking at a FMIC 18x10x2.5 for the core, 24" total length, will go bigger if this is too small?

 

an aquamist system 2d, wont do that yet because I want to see how well the FMIC does alone especially since I havent even mounted the charger yet! :D

 

looks like I will be using the BBM chip for the setup as of right now because NO ONE can make me a custom map, looks like I will be dealing with 240 whp for a while, I know it sounds quite rude of me to say but I was looking for more there. they're only running 24 psi on that program I think, I am running upwards of 26, hopefully the larger FMIC will slow it down to about 24,

 

240 whp in my car with a stock flywheel (24 lb) = about 290 bhp.

 

 

darren anything on those hoses?

anyone got a schematic of the inside of a G60 ECU, specifically the map sensor area?

 

I want to make sure this wiring is correct before I install the new map sensor, they are tiny little buggers.

uh r u sure that works? cause I sat for 10 mins and got nothing... thanks tho!

 

sam I ordered my stage 5 ECU from BBM, I am going to assemle an ECU with the new map sensor in it to make sure these things work, Unfortunately I wont be able to tell if they work with boost till I get the charger mounted. If you want to wait till I find out the results of mine, I will send you the Motorola map sensor then.

 

If not just let me know and I will send you the bill for a single one.

 

I have 4 total so hopefully they will work first try. Im pretty sure the wiring that I had guessed is the correct wiring, just a little worried about testing it for the first time as they are 25 US dollars a piece.

The link used to work i have a printed version at home somewhere I will try and dig it out, as for the map sensor I am not in a great rush as I only have an 18psi pulley at the mo, but will be swapping to a 22psi when I get teh sensor and everything, so will wait on you.

 

I will try an dfind the wiring diagram when I get home.

I have seen the schematic of the pin layout just for the main connector, I am talking about an internal schematic =-) if thats not what you have then dont worry about it.

soooo Im currently getting the wiring from some dude in germany, If he will respond to my messages. if he does then we have wiring for the MAP sensors! yay! now to get all those stupid pieces cut out of 1" aluminum and get this thing mounted!

YAY WE HAVE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS!!!!! installing right now =-)

 

sam I'll send you one, Im also sending one to BBM for verification =-) I think Im gonna send them the whole ECU so that they can test it.

so for an update, I am taking pictures of the pieces tonight and will post them up. I got everything CNC cut out of aluminum by a local guy, we made 1 mistake which is why it isnt mounted into the car right now, we were off by .36" from the belt side of the mounting plates, IE we came up too short and we need longer pieces,

 

total weight without adding an FMIC 46.8 lbs, compared to the 20 lbs of a standard G60 charger.

 

when I post the pictures you will understand what I am talking about, I am worried about stress on the aluminum though and dont know how much the 1/2" aluminum can handle. Ive got side to side I just need front to back strength now.

all the seams are being TIG welded together... if you see where I am thinking its gonna be weak you will understand why I think that. I am also welding it to the support cube thing going across, did the math and its 360 psi on the aluminum if accelerating at 100 m/s^2 forward, which really is nothing for the acceleration that its feeling, but I am overengineering it so I never have to worry about it.

 

yes I have a random collection of bolts and yes the support cube thing is being welded to the bracket with tapped holes.

um yeah I just found out that the resistance in that MAP sensor is absolutely ridiculous! 18000 ohms of resistance @ 1 Atm! thats like a current of .0001 A, better for me but freakishly low!

Darren I hope you read this, I am changing my plan once again, the problem with running dual sets of injectors is the fact that I have no room in there and making adapters is painful and takes a lot of time, not to mention the fact that I would have to make a new intake manifold because the injectors would be in the way, so what I am going to do is back to stage 1 with the fuel.

 

I will be running 36 lb injectors with a 2 bar FPR and a 3.5 bar FPR, this will give me a 66% duty cycle when running the 2 bar, I have heard you can go as low as 45% but things get funky. this seems to be the only solution that I can think of that doesnt require modifying everything in the engine bay to get the proper fuel. when running at 3.5bar I get 42 lbs.

this is a fuel tank switch valve I will run my FPR's off of. what I dont know is if its direcional, if it is I have to run the fuel into the out and out of the in.

that thing allows me to change a "fuel tank" from one to another on a truck normally right? well this will go in reverse and instead of feeding in from the dual ported side it will feed from the single ported side, when I flick a switch it will change which one of those 2 outputs that it goes to, 1 high presure FPR for the charger 1 low pressure FPR that will allow me to get gas mileage.

 

 

the bottom ports on the thing are the return lines. (the blocked off ones)

OK map sensor arrived and installed and car running well. all good so cheers jonathan.

 

now the new map sensor is 250kpa which is 36psi right ?

However I assume this is actually 18psi, so will I need another sensor for when I get the 22psi pulley and and can I now put back my ISV without it bleeding boost past 15psi.

whoa who whoa there turbo.......

 

first of all, you installed it already? and the car is running? did you get a different ECU to run the 250kpa sensor? basically one mapped for 250 kpa?

 

the new map sensor is good up to 21psi, you have 1 atm absolute because your ECU isnt vacuum sealed.

 

you can put your ISV back in when you get an ECU to run the extra 7.5 psi that your car will throw at it. otherwise the car will release the psi @ 15 again.

 

you cant install the map sensor without and ECU it wont change anything.

well the chip is an sns stage 5 mapped for 18psi on a glader and the car is running very sweet (just gave it a good 25 mile thrashing) so I wont be changing back to the old sensor, I know I need a correct map for everything that has been done, but want some 440 injectors a smaller pulley and new manifold before I do this.

 

I think Darren mentioned that the stage 5 sns chips had mappings up to 18psi anyway so I gues this is why cthe map sensor is working ok, anyway it all seems ok. I get a bit like a bull at a gate sometimes, but everything seems ok.

 

Darren do I need a new map for this sensor ?

hey sam when you soldered your ECU back together did you notice a funny little khaki colored electrical component? if you know what I am taking about there were a few of them all around the board but I was wondering if you knew if it actually connected with pin #2? I cant remember..
