cambelt tensioner price?

Just spoke to my local VAG stealer and he's just quoted me £41 inc VAT for a cambelt tensioner.

 

This is for a 1.8 KR 16 valve 1991......part number for the tensioner he gave me was 051109243.

 

I thought from what i have read on here in the past that the tensioner was around the £20 mark.....did i remember wrong?

From GSF it probably is only 20.

I've ordered from VAG ....after seeing the quality of the GSF ignition switch i removed the other week i think i'll play safe.......no disrespect to GSF

I have always bought gear from GSF and never had any bother. TBH I haven't heard of any 16Valvers wearing out the tensioners to the point that they break.

 

How long do you need it to last? I doubt it'll be on the road in 10 years time :lol:
